Buda, TX (05/10/2007) - When the season began Colt James was planning on running for the Southern Division Championship in the ASA Late Model Series and a handful of events in the Challenge Division.

Racing in front of the home state crowd at San Antonio Speedway the season got off to a winning start for this talented youngster from Buda, Texas. Colt was encouraged to race the following Challenge events at Nashville and Toledo coming away with two more strong finishes and maintained his point’s lead.

Now the decision has been made to concentrate only on the ASALMS Challenge Division and leave the Southern Division races behind. This family owned team still needs additional sponsorship to make sure they can afford to keep their title hopes alive! Back to back races in the Hawkeye state will put a strain on the team’s resources but Colt James is confident he is up for the challenge.

“We have had one of the fastest cars at every race this season so I expect another strong run at Hawkeye Downs this week,” said Colt. The Barron Motor Supply/Crate Motor Classic 200 Presented by Cassill Motors takes the green flag at 9:00pm (CST) on Saturday night May 12, 2007.

Colt James Thanks his Sponsors: Colt James Racing is proud to add Dickerson Machinery as a sponsor this season. “I want to thank Terry Dickerson for helping us out. Our sponsors are keeping us going and we couldn’t do this without them,” said Colt James. Dickerson Machinery joins Colt’s other sponsors that include Magnum Trailers, Wells Cargo, Design Welding, and RaceTalkRadio.com.

Meet Colt James: Despite missing the first two races in the ASA Late Model Southern Division last season, this twenty-three year old from Buda, Texas finished seventh in the point’s standings with one win in the Kenly 100 at Southern National Raceway Park. Colt won the 2007 season opener in the Challenge Division at San Antonio. His family oriented race team is allowing Colt James to chase his racing dreams.

Colt has his sights set on the Challenge Division championship this season! When he is not driving in races, Colt James is working on engines at the famed Roush-Yates Engine Department. After three weeks of the 2007 season Colt has one win and leads the Championship point’s standings by thirty points.
