HMP update

Pretty sure the 27 in Pro lates was the car owner, Bob Garwood this time out. Brandon was all over him, but Garwood held his line. Sirizzotti had a clean run from the back of the field to run 3rd.

18 cars started. A couple new cars, Mike Reininger had a clean looking new car, a couple others who were a little scary out there. Notable absences were Stewart, Davidson, Larry and Jerry Schild, Caldwell.

Eddy Wallace started 14th again, car was quick until a mid race skirmish. Wallace was following Brandon under another guy, and other guy cut down as soon as Brandon cleared him. Hurt the toe on the 55, but still ran 4th. The way some of the guys race in that class, guess we're glad that is all the happened to it.

Another night of beating and banging but that is what happens with full field inverts these days.

Trey Mitchell led the whole Modified race. Had a lot of pressure from a particularly aggressive driver, this guys over aggressiveness ended up costing himself, when he tried chrome-horne Mitchell off turn 4, and ended up getting himself spun instead.

Mitchell had a couple car lengths over the 33 car, Jason Boyd, and Brad Hudak.

The 40 in the trucks is the new owner of Craig Roper's truck. New owner is from Montgomery, Texas.

Roper is looking at a Pro Late Model.

Unfortunately, another very light crowd. Maybe the Richmond night race, maybe an impending threat of rain. Naw, never mind I said that. Don't want to start the advertisement versus promotion argument again.

I talked to Graham this weekend about the full field inversion. He told me that he suggested to invert 12 but was out voted by the race committie.I talked to alot of teams this weekend from different classes to see how they felt and not one team I talked to liked the full field inversion. They all was ok with some sort of smaller invert, but they are not going to complain right now because they are scared the track might close and everyone just wants a place to play.I wish whoever is on this committie would at least talk to the teams and take their thoughts(and Grahams)into consideration since they are the ones putting the sweat, hard work and most importantly the money into these cars and races. The back gate is where the money is coming from right now and if these teams get their cars tore up and can't make the race thats less revenue.(2 that I personally know did'nt make it this weekend because of tore up cars)Graham also told me the committie blamed rough driving on the wrecks and I don't believe anyone can argue that. All in all the driving was alot better this race, but there is still a few cars out there that have a total lack of respect for there fellow racers, you guys know who you are so I want posts your car numbers.I will say this though, the clean drivers are getting tired of it so you guys had better start showing some respect.Uhcougs and Tx Tom it was great meeting the both of you this weekend and put a face with a screen name.I can't remember the guys name that through the mexican theme after party, but thanks for the invite. We should all try and do something like that after every race it's a real nice way to wind the evening down. Thanks again!!!!!

Most people here on TXSZ feel that a full field inversion is too extreme for an 18 car field. This system worked fine when there were only 10-12 cars. If HMP were to go to a 12 car inversion, how would you suggest they determine the starting order?

I'm under the impression they invert the start based on the points standing, it goes back to running heat races for the divsions that have over 12 cars and handicapping them.

18 pro late models, 3 heat races, 10 laps each, 6 cars per heat with top 4 qualifying for a top 12 starting spot with the 4 other cars starting in the back.

JMO :D

Everyone I talked to has a different approach to the way they want to do it(dice roll, practice times, heat races, last race finishing order, qualifying, points standings,etc...),but the common thing I heard is less number of cars on the invert.I don't care how they do it but the teams do want less cars inverted and I just believe the committee should take that into consideration.Even the owner of the track is for a smaller number that alone should stand for something. :P

That would be Team 04 -- and you're welcome, we had fun doing it. After all it was Cinco De Mayo! But I'm a bit disappointed because we had 5 cases of beer and 7 gallons of margaritas and ended up going home with leftovers. I guess we’re more accustomed to after partying with the likes of Enormous John, Ian “The Russan” Webster and “Lemon Lime” LLLoyd. Maybe we can try again on July 7th for a Cuarto de Julio after party…

Brad,

I spoke with Ginormous John today, and he regrets missing your Cinco de Mayo party.

Seem the AAA bunch was celebrating a castration---oops, I mean marriage, of one of their own. Early word is it was not a pretty sight, especially a very inebriated Roy trying to take one for the team.......

We may also need to update your descriptions of said AAA team..Big has joined a fitness club, and is a mere shadow of his former self.

As for Lemon, he has new colors, an all black car, with a gold trim that can best be described as "Dime Store Bling". Very catching and a hit on W.W. White street here in San Antonio.

But now that they have run out of excuses for not racing, like Oyster Bake, or the aforementioned castrat--I mean marriage, They plan to grace our presence at Houston on the 19th. Big did state that your 5 cases of beer may not be enough, though.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Dont be jealous tom just cuz you cant pimp those colors. We havent had a chance to race a lot this year but we have been keeping busy showing the car at a lot of liquor stores all around san antonio. But we are looking forward to getting back on the track and mixing it up again at hmp on the 19th.

Very true, Lloyd. When I first saw the new scheme, I knew we couldn't roll, that is why we went to our own new colors. We do have gold on it, but just a very simple stripe and number background. Doesn't compare to that incredible costume joo-ree glitter gold adorning the 115.

On another note, It is possible that the famous pink wheels may reappear this weekend at Kyle. Seems that El Diablo has given the OK to Double00BeauBeau to adorn his mount with these trusty rings of steel.
