NickHolt
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 3, 2007 Contact: K-MAC Sports, 512.297.8725 Cody Smith ‘more than ready’ to race again La Vernia, TX (3-23-07) –Cody Smith, a 17-year-old junior at La Vernia (TX) High School, is not one to be patient when it comes to hitting the race track. Smith will join the cars and stars of the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division will travel to the Watermelon Capital (GA) Speedway, located South of Macon in Cordele, Georgia this Friday and Saturday (May 4-5, 2007) for the running of the Watermelon Bowl 125. Smith hasn’t raced since the ASA ran the Camp Boggy Creek 100 Presented by Pennzoil, Dalton Zehr Racing, and FLF Racecars at Bronson (Fla.) the weekend of March 16-17, 2007. In two starts this season, Smith has had the misfortune of being collected in accidents in front of him. “We haven’t raced in such a long time it seems like forever,” stated Smith, who gets out of school within the next couple of weeks. “We’re very ready to get back on the track and show what we can do. Our crew works very hard and I know we’ll put forth a great effort in Georgia this week.” Tom Smith, owner of Smith Family Racing team, can’t wait to get back in action. “This off time is killing me,” the elder Smith joked. “I’ve been pacing the floors back and forth, waiting to go racing with Smith Family Racing. We’ve been out watching everyone else race; now it’s our turn to hit the track.” Crew chief Ervin Breiten, Jr. and team members are ready to go, too. The #18 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that Cody Smith drives is sponsored by RTM Construction, Oval Components, Brumley PEO and Salazar Family Racing.
