NickHolt Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 2, 2007 Contact: K-MAC Sports, 512.297.8725 Kruger ‘over’ bad incident on race track; still manages top-10 finish (Bastrop, TX) – It’s something that happens to every young racer during their career. Jake Kruger, the 13-year-old Bastrop resident, was running in Saturday’s Lonestar Legacys series race at Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle, TX) when he got involved in a spin with another car. Most folks saw both cars involved in the spin; series officials saw it differently. Thus, the Bastrop Middle School eighth-grader was sent to the back by himself – despite objections from fans and other racers. The incident took place with about six laps to go in the 30-lap feature. Kruger ran hard and took home and eighth-place finish. “It’s no big deal; we’re over it,” said the son of Bill and Deb Kruger, who own Kruger Motorsports Racing (KMR). “I got inside of him (the other driver), we both spun and another car hit both of us. I got sent to the back. On the restart, there wasn’t much to do from there but run as hard as I could. I’m glad I could still pull out a top-10 finish.” “Jake’s got a great attitude,” added KMR co-owner Deb Kruger. “Sure, he’s disappointed but he knows this is just one race in a long season of racing. Jake and the team are already looking forward to the next race (May 12 at Thunder Hill Raceway).” Kruger qualified fifth and started fourth in the feature race. He spun on the opening lap of the race – he’s not sure if he was bumped or if he spun out by himself – but he retained his starting position as race officials called for a complete restart. The 13-year-old Kruger thanked sponsors of the #71 John Martin/Austin Vee-Dub Body Shop Chevrolet Monte Carlo; other team sponsors include Kruger Motorsports Racing, Cool Carts of Texas, CapiTel Communications Inc. and Sikkens Paint. Kruger finished second in the Lonestar Legacys championship last season and has his eye set on the title this time around. KMR is looking to launch a web site soon. Kruger is represented by K-MAC Sports Productions of Austin; information about the company can be found at www.kmacsports.com. Kruger overcame some late-race troubles and finished eighth in his second race of the season. Quote
