TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Talladega Superspeedway has permanently banned 14 fans from buying tickets at the speedway following their arrests Sunday for throwing objects on the track after Jeff Gordon's victory in the Aaron's 499.

The fans were charged with disorderly conduct Sunday and posted bond at the track's jail facilities, Talladega County Sheriff Jerry Studdard said. Track officials can't prevent the 14 fans from buying tickets through a third party.

JUST SAW THIS ON NASCAR.COM..........it will be hard for them to enforce it, but at least they are taking steps to try to end it.

No, but can't they criminally trespass them? Make it so that if they are caught on the property again, they can be arrested and prosecuted for CT?

Can't stop them from buying a third party ticket, but you don't have to allow them to attend any speedway functions.

Yes i am sure they can/will arrest those folks on criminal trespass charges if they return to the track, but with all that many folks there, it might be alittle difficult to find these idiots. I only wish they could have charged them with something stiffer than disorderly conduct.

Need to follow the lead of the Philly Eagles. Their fans were notorious for being rowdy. They put in a couple of drunk tanks, a police satellite station, and a courtroom. Had a municipal judge that worked game days. One stop shopping. Get your ticket, watch your game, drink your beer, get drunk, get stupid, get arrested, get arraigned, and get bonded out out all in one swell sunday afternoon.

oh I'm gonna hear it for this one & I never thought I'd say it

Let me start off my saying, NO I AM NOT A JEFF GORDON FAN. That being said, who else running Cup today has 4 championships and more wins than the MAN(3)? Nobody. When you are <cough> the best <cough> people either are gonna love ya or hate ya but they all should respect ya. Afterall, this IS a SPORT right? What is going to happen IF Gordon passes BOTH Petty & Earnhardt for the most championships?

oldtimer - I read a lot of your posts, and I have to agree with most of what you say - however:

NASCAR had a lot to do with the "Intimidator" and "Man in Black" phenomenom as well. He was jammed down our throats at every opportunity....and then some. During those rare races and seasons when he was struggling, we knew when he made a daring pass for 22nd position, even when a great battle was going on in the top 5..

Earnhardt ran over more than a few drivers in his day - and never apologized...and I remember a few times when he had a hard time accepting it when he was on the receiving end (Rudd, Luyendyk in the IROC). As is normal, after the death of someone, we sometimes forget the not so positive traits or incidents they had.

Nobody was throwing beer cans at Earnhardt when he tied Petty's championship total - I wonder why.

Not everybody was an Earnhardt fan, and not everyone was happy he tied "The King".

I'm no fan of Gordon and wasn't an Earnhardt fan either...both are great drivers....but I don't think this has anything to do with the drivers or the media blitz we receive about them - it's about the so called fans.

For what its worth - my favs were/are the Labonte Bros. and Blaney.

i dont think they threw cans at earnhardt because he was more like them...........he was the working man's racer who came up the hard way and was more like an average fan in the stands with great driving ability......gordon is a pretty boy and until recently, other then tim richmond nascar hasnt had too many pretty boys and i think that is why the older nascar fans didnt like him..........todays nascar fan likes the pretty boys more than the rough looking racers like shrader and the old school drivers...........nascar isnt about racing anymore, it is about which poster boy can sell the most product to continue to fund na$cars pockets........

Nascar is in the racing business to make money. Get over it.

makeing money is fine .just dont run off the poeple who got them there ..me and alot of others ..you know the old fans . and the ones before us ...heck i have never missed a saterday night nascar race before by choice ..till this year .. just arent many real racers in it anymore ..the one,s that are real are in the back with slower cars and weak teems .. they are to old to be ;poster boys ..

Dale Earnhardt was the most hated driver in NASCAR for better than half of his career. Dale Waltrip was hated until Rusty Wallace punted him at the Winston in about 84 or so. Wallace was hated until he got to be an oldtimer. Jeff Gordon is hated for one reason and one reason only. Jealousy. He came in with better skills than anyone had had since the 70's, he was able to get prime equipment when he was 21 yrs old. Everyone wa jealous and mad that he didn't have to spend 5-10 years toiling in crap cars before he got a goods ride. Everyone else just needs to get over it and quit making all their excuses for why they don't like him. As far as why they didn't throw beer cans at Earnhardt, Its because back then if you would have done something like that somebody in the stands, in the pits, or even in a car would have whipped your ass. It had nothing to do with him being a working man's hero. Earnhardt wasn't the universally loved figure he is today until the day he died.

if gordy was so good then why has he not won that 7 .th championship ..by now ..oh i forgot he does not have the everham facter anymore ..and before this season is over id bet he will be way down in points ...lol ..

if earnhardt was so good why didn't he win 200 races like petty?

times change , records that were set yesterday won't be touched today........as "modern era" records won't be matched tomorrow.

petty won 200 races in the day when he just showed up 4 or 5 nights outta the week at a so called 'grand national' event , ran against potatoe farmers in their 32 fords , claimed a victory and came back home.

i was not bad mouthing earnhardt i was just trying to make a point.(so please don't send me death mail/ or throw cans at me..........but yea , i was prolly bad mouthing petty. what can i say ,i'm more of a silver fox fan.
