Kruger anxious to hit the track in Legacys race this Saturday

(Bastrop, TX) – The saying goes that as people get older, time passes by quicker in life. Time, apparently, can’t “fly” fast enough for 13-year-old Jake Kruger (Bastrop, TX).

Kruger, driver of the #71 entry in the Lonestar Legacys series and an eighth-grader at Bastrop Middle School, is so anxious to hit the race track that it seems like it’s been “forever” since he last raced (which he did back on March 24 at San Antonio Speedway where he finished fifth). Kruger will get the chance as the Legacys gear up for a feature race this Saturday at Thunder Hill Raceway (THR), a 3/8th-mile asphalt oval in Kyle, TX.

“I’m tried of waiting; I want to go racing,” Kruger stated. “Our second race of the year was rained out in Corpus Christi, so it’s been a long time between races. I can’t wait to hit the track at Thunder Hill this Saturday! It’ll be good to be (driving) out on the track again.”

“The car’s been ready for quite a while,” joked Kruger Motorsports Racing (KMR) co-owner Bill Kruger. “Honestly, it does seem like it’s been too long since we’ve gone racing. Jake’s antsy to get going and we’re looking forward to running at Thunder Hill in what should be a great night of racing.”

KMR co-owner Deb Kruger – who celebrated a birthday yesterday (Thursday) – added, “You could easily say this is the calm before the storm. Saturday night’s race at Thunder Hill starts a string where we race six of the next seven weeks. Talk about ‘shifting gears’ – but we know Jake’s ready for that long haul.” Three of those next six are at THR.

The younger Kruger drives the #71 John Martin/Austin Vee-Dub Body Shop Chevrolet Monte Carlo; other team sponsors include Cool Carts of Texas, CapiTel Communications Inc. and Sikkens Paint. A full field is expected for Saturday’s race.

Kruger finished second in the Lonestar Legacys championship last season and has his eye set on the title this time around.

KMR is looking to launch a web site soon. Kruger is represented by K-MAC Sports Productions of Austin; information about the company can be found at www.kmacsports.com.
