About 6 or 7 trucks, I think 5 started. Steve Green won, only one who could run with him was Craig Roper.

About 14 Modifieds, Jason Boyd won, with Tuffy Hudson a couple car lengths back.

They had 21 Pro Crate Late Models, had a full field inversion based on where you finished last time there, with all new cars in the back. Made for a mess. 2/3rds of the race was run under caution, and one red flag.

In the end, Eddy Wallace put on a clinic on how to pass on a small track after starting 14th. With 10 laps to go, he was 4th and passed them in 5 laps. Held on in front of Brent Seeley, who managed to finish a race with all the fenders on the car.

Good thing we got a paint sponsor on Eddy's car, it's got tire rub all over it.

Thanks, Big..

We had a little luck, also--On the cool down lap after the finish, coming through turn 3, the dang thing quit. We thought it ran out of gas, but turned out to be something in the ignition. Not the box, something in the distributor or voltage regulator. We never got it started again last night.

You aint kidding it was a mess!!!!I have always hated inverts, all they are good for is tearing up good racars, with that being said I can understand why a promoter would want to invert (promote action by making the fast cars have to go around the slow ones) but to invert an entire field of $40,000 cars is crazy. The cars up front are slow for a reason(inexperience, not handling properly,or just plain slow)They were all driving with their rearview mirrors and it made for a huge mess.I can see mabey inverting the top 5 or 8 "fastest" just to make things interesting, but thats it!!!!To make things worse they were not putting the cars in the back that caused the caution, when I asked why, they said when they don't know for sure who caused it noone gets put in the rear.(WHAT)if you can't determine whos at fault the all involved rule should take effect(I hate this rule also)but I sure hate to see someone clearly come down on someone and tear up a bunch of teams hard work and high dollar equipment just because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then to see these no driving gobers get to go right back in their last completed lap position just burns me up!!!!Graham has said in past meetings that he hates to see cars tore up,I hope he reviews last nights debacle and does a little tweeking on the race foremat the team I was with can't afford any more nights like that!!!!:huh:

so what about taking fastest practice times to set the field?

the racing was good, except the yellows. The fact that 21 cars started the race and about that many finished it. A buncha spins but atleast the race finished with 70% of the cars that started...

Good to see ya'll, Chad.

Looks like we will soon have Hoosierdaddy senior and junior out there.

Bubba Menard has bought a Mod from Billy Becka, had a good practice Friday at Houston until the engine broke.

Chad is working a deal that may have him in a new car soon.

Look forward to seeing both of ya'll out there.

Houston waffle house has a spot for you after the races!!

That's an understatement Tom, Bandit looked like a man on a mission!

Congrats to ya'll on a hard fought victory. Savor that one, you earned it!

And out of the 70% that finished 90%had some kind of damage.Did you see the winners car(Eddy)It was whooped up oneside and down the other.ABC bodies aint cheap and they aint easy to install neither!!!! :D:D

i agree wrecking your way to the front is not winning..Eddie done a great job and i was happy to see him win. but they are going to have to do something about the rough driving...[edited out by Nick Holt}. wrecks are going to happen but putting these non drivers in the front of the faster car is insane they have a hard time just moving over when there being lapped.HMP has a good car count now but they will lose that if this invert the whole field doesnt stop....

My 2 cents

Now that there is a full field of Pro Late Models, HMP has more options than just inverting the field. They could start running heat races and handicapping the field.

Using the 21-car scenario, this could be accomplished by running 3, 10 lap heat races with 7 cars per heat. Top 5 cars qualify for the main, what I mean by qualify is a starting spot in the top 15. The other cars would start in the back, this helps eliminate one of the issues with a full field inversion.

Next, setting the field by handicapping, Use the last 3 races or for the beginning of the season use the last 3 races of the previous season. New racers are scored as having 3 wins to start. The top 15 is set by the total points you earned in the last 3-races.

Example, using the HMP points system, based on 100 points for the winner and 3 point increments there after. The racer with the lowest points total for the last three races who qualifies in the heat races will start on the poll. Second lowest starts second, so on and so forth. 2 racers qualify and have the same total points for the previous 3 races, ties are broken with the racer who has less total points for the season starting in front of the other racer. A new racer who qualifies would start 15th.

Heat races would be beneficial in a number of ways:

1. Drivers have more track time in a race environment without the pressure of a main event.

2. Drivers get more experience passing and being passed, more give and take since the driver doesn't receive any additional benefit for finishing 5th instead of 2nd.

3. Fans get to see more racing

4. Hopefully this would equate to less bent up racecars in the mains.

5. Could also produce a wider variety of winners and make for better racing

Graham stopped the qualifying because of time constaints,so I don't think he will do the heat thing(although that would be cool)It really don't matter to me if he uses points or even the times from practice to break things down.I just hope he stops the full field inversion!!!! :(:(

I definately understand the time constraints of time trialing all the divisions, this is just a suggestion for the Pro Late Models. 3 heat races shouldn't take that long, plus, I believe the fans would enjoy seeing the Pro Late Model heat races.

its a little tough to read those results because of the spacing but it looks like the eniter field was within 1/2 second of each other (by laptimes)

The reason the entire field was within a half a second is because all the slow cars were up front blocking!!!  :lol:
