Joining Naumann at the podium were HMP track promoter Graham Baker, Tech Directors Randy Andersen and Jack Sandefur, THR race director Terry Barden and members of the THR Management Group. With about 60 racers and crew members in attendance, Naumann set the tone by outlining the objectives for the meeting which included; an update on THR track improvements, specific suggestions and recommendations on ways SAS divisions and USRA Trucks or Modifieds could be integrated into existing THR or HMP racing programs, and information on how THR and HMP were working together to provide Texas short track asphalt racers with common rules, specs, and schedules that feature points events at both tracks for Texas State Championship awards. The meeting was very cordial with a lively exchange of questions and responses followed by careful explanations of how certain modifications could be made to save on costs. Several requests by racers were taken under advisement by the tech directors with a promise to have a complete set of rules placed on each track’s website by the end of the week. Baker, Naumann and others stressed their commitment do everything possible to make the SAS racers feel at home while at the same time providing a level playing field for all competitors. Racing resumes this weekend at HMP with open practice until mid-night and national points events for the Bandeleros, Legends, and Thunder Roadsters on Friday night. Pit gates will open at 10 a.m. Saturday with eight divisions including the ASA Pro Late Models and the Texas Truck Series. Races begin at 6:45 p.m. THR is scheduled to open its regular (and 10th Anniversary!) season on Saturday, April 28th. For more information, visit www.thunderhillraceway.com. Quote
