I am over 70 years old and can lay claim that I have been a auto racing fan for at least 85 percent of those years. I first started going to races as a very young teenager and to this day have taken every opportunity I could to go to the local race track to enjoy my sport. I once delved in the sport as a car owner but being active duty military at the time on a very limited budget that did not last long. I have worked at three different race tracks in the capacity as a track official ranging from scoring to being a pit steward. I was very sad to hear of the SAS closing because I had planned to attend every event there this season. I enjoyed going there and enjoyed visiting with the track officials, drivers and car owners who I had the pleasure of visiting with at the events last season and the two events I attended this season. I will really miss these great people and sure hope that the efforts of Txenergy and his supporting cast of drivers and car owners are able to come up with a new track here in SA so this old guy can enjoy his remaining years enjoying his lifelong love. I have been following the post about the possibility of a new facility and sure do hope it succeeds. I have watched race shows at many tracks throughout this country and will rank the old San Antonio Pan American Speedway as one of the best promoted shows in the US. Not slighting SAS, their show was also well organized but the track itself could have used a couple improvements to make it better. Such as the pits being off one of the turns like THR is or the old Pan Am was. And the infield fences in the turns have bent far more cars than the outside walls have. JMO. Good luck with the new facility. And expedite cause its a long haul up to THR.

O/T,

I kinda have to agree with ya. I had watched this board for several months before I joined as a member a couple of years ago. Why did I bother? Well, after reading on here those months, I got the view points of drivers, teams, owners, promoters, wifes, husbands, girlfiends, sons, daughters of racers, officials, scorers, writers, announcers, etc, etc, etc.

But, no one at the time, was on here to give the fans' point of view. I didn't think that was right, so I got on here and felt I had something legitimate to contribute to this board. Hopefully most will agree.

Landlord,

Nope, don't race. I have been around these old tracks around here now for over 50 years, though. I've gotten to know a few in the sport over those years, and have come to know a little about it and those in it. :)

O/T,

Thanks, that's good to hear. :)
