One very special group that rarely gets a chance to do either are returning vets that have been wounded or disabled. We know a lot of vets are big NASCAR fans and while their injuries may prevent them from driving one of these cars they’re good to go for the Ride of a Lifetime”. This will be the first event of its kind in Texas. All event staff will be volunteers utilizing racecars built and maintained with individual or corporate donated funds. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with 25-35 vets invited through various informal channels. Each participant will get a ride along experience with lunch being served afterwards. The format will include some parade laps behind the HMP pace truck followed by five “hot” laps guaranteed to produce goose bumps and smiles for everyone on hand. The general public is cordially invited to mix and mingle with the men and women who have made great sacrifices to serve their country. Face to face compassion and kind attention are never out of fashion with these patriots. For directions to HMP please visit www.houstonmotorsportspark.com. Persons who would like more information or to sign up as a volunteer for this or future events are encouraged to contact Mick Anderson at (281) 460-5322 or micka@txmotorsportsexperience.com. Volunteers will receive complimentary general admission tickets to the May 5th HMP oval track racing event. Vets themselves or persons who know wounded or disabled vets who served in Afghanistan or Iraq are also invited to contact Mick Anderson about the new Pride & Ride- Adopt a Vet program which will, when funded, be offered at Houston Motorsports Park and Thunder Hill Raceway later in 2007.
