Tulsa, OK (March 19, 2007) - The American Sprint Car Series embarks upon new territory this weekend, as the ASCS Coastal Region takes to the semi-banked, ¼-mile South Mississippi Speedway in Long Beach, MS, this Saturday night.

Saturday's ASCS debut at South Mississippi Speedway marks the first of two scheduled stops at the facility for the ASCS Coastal Region, which is in its first year of racing action.

The ASCS Coastal Region held its inaugural event just over a month ago, with West Memphis racer Marshall Skinner topping the series challenge vs. the ASCS Rebel Region at Loxley, Alabama's Deep South Speedway on February 10.

Louisiana racers Lane Whittington and Michael Dupuy established themselves as top ASCS Coastal Region championship contenders with top five feature runs in the February 10 opener, with other top contenders including Michael Herrington, Shane Morgan, Robert Casada and Todd Fayard among others.

South Mississippi Speedway is located near Long Beach off I-10 Exit 24, then 0.2 miles north on Menge Avenue. For more information, contact the track at 228-255-8008.

The ASCS Coastal Region is slated to contest 21 events at 13 different tracks throughout Mississippi and the surrounding area including portions of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
