Casey Smith Starts 2007 at the Rattler 250

AUSTIN, TX (February 26, 2007) – Casey Smith is looking forward to starting the 2007 series off big at the 31st Annual Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, Alabama this Sunday, March 4.

The twenty-one year old driver started off a successful 2006 season just one year ago with a 4th place finish at the Rattler 250. He hasn’t been back to the big 3/8th mile track since, but is excited about returning and leaving more of an impression.

“It was really fun last year. We had a car that could win it and we got tangled up late in the race which messed up the left front shock and held on to finish in the top-five,” Smith said.

“The track has been re-paved, so it should be different and put everyone back on the same playing field because know one will really know what to expect. It should be fast and fun.”

In the past, Smith usually spends the entire off-season either re-building a car or building a new one. Since he built his brand new car in the fall for the Snowball Derby, he was able to utilize the entire off-season going to the track and dialing the car in. With more preparation than seasons prior, Casey has high hopes for the season.

“We have been to Kyle [Thunderhill Raceway] a couple of times with my primary car and we are going to start working on the other car to get it ready to use as a back-up.”

Casey will drive the Rapid Disposal, Buchanan Homes Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The color is now black, but the trademark #99 has stayed the same.
