Spring Training for Race Cars

 

The Champ Car Series roars back to life for spring training at sunny Motorsport Ranch Houston. Monday and Tuesday of this week the teams of Champ Car will be testing their new for 2007 chassis, the Panoz DP01. They are open wheel cars (no fenders) powered by turbocharged, eight-cylinder Cosworth XFE Engines with 750 horsepower reaching speeds of 230 miles per hour. The teams are getting the car ready for the April 22 Grand Prix of Houston. Last year’s inaugural event hosted over 127,000 fans during the 3 day event. Improvements have been made to the track to make it smoother and faster. The April 20-22 event will also host the American LeMans series cars, live music, entertainment, events for fans of all ages, merchandise, food/beverage and the chance to see cars and race teams up close and personal in the paddock.
