San Antonio Speedway makes schedule changes for Opening Night

San Antonio, TX (February 3, 2007) – San Antonio Speedway (SAS) is getting ready for its 2007 season opener on March 3, and racing agenda has been changed for that night.

The San Antonio Speedway Late Model and Grand Stock classes will not be racing on March 3. The other two local classes – Road Runners and Sportsman – will be running their races that night as scheduled.

Rick Day, San Antonio Speedway’s President and General Manager, shared his comments about the change. “I know the change is disappointing for the Late Model and Grand Stock drivers who had planned to join us for the season opener, but we felt it was necessary,” said Day. “We’ve been working on the schedule all week – trying to fit in all of the practices, drivers’ meetings, heat races and feature races. We just don’t have enough hours in the day to include all of the events originally scheduled – unless our drivers and fans want to spend the entire night at the track.”

The ASA LMS Alamo 200 race had originally been scheduled at San Antonio Speedway at the end of March. Due to a schedule conflict with another track on their national tour, ASA requested that the race at SAS be moved to March 3. The change was made, even though a full night of racing was already on the agenda for that date – including the Texas Pro Sedans and the San Antonio Speedway local classes.

The San Antonio Speedway Late Model and Grand Stock races will be rescheduled as double feature nights in April or May.

San Antonio Speedway is located at 14901 State Highway 16 South (towards Poteet), 3.5 miles outside Loop 410.
