Stephan McCurley in top 10 in All American Challenge

Recommended Posts

Sixteen-year old Stephan McCurley, of Silsbee, Texas, was invited to an All American Driver Challenge event on February 1 – 4 in Atlanta, GA, along with 75 other drivers from throughout the nation. After 2 ½ days of racing and interviewing, Stephan advanced to the semi-finals and has selected Stephan along with nine other drivers to return for the final event at Hickory Motor Speedway in NC the first weekend in March.

The youngster is one of the most promising, young racecar drivers on the circuit today. This rising athlete is a bright and very determined individual with unlimited potential and a passion for racing. He began to show his talent at the tender age of seven in Karts, trying to get as much seat time as possible and winning many feature victories, track championships, regional championship, as well as national championships.

McCurley entered the Allison Legacy Series at fourteen earning a total of four of six poles and winning four of nine feature races. He was named Rookie of the Year after finishing third in season points race. He still retains the official track qualifying record at Houston Motorsports Park.

At fifteen, McCurley advanced to a more competitive class, Pro Late Model. Stephan. In spite of being a young rookie competing against well-known, far more experienced racers, McCurley won the Pro Late Model race he ever attempted in the car. Stephan spent the remainder of his rookie year competing for the point’s championship.

What makes these accomplishments so amazing (other than being 16, and his first year in a Late Model) is that he was required to start each race at the rear of the field due to the inversion procedure in force at Houston Motorsports Park.

Stephan is very involved with the preparation of his racecars. He has the capability, work ethic and maturity to handle all aspects of preparing a race car. The time spent preparing the cars, has given him the ability to communicate with his team for better race results.

Stephan plans to run selected Pro Late Model and ASA events at Houston Motorsports Park, and the Southeast Region in 2007.

We have been fortunate to be able to race Allison Legacy's with Stephan. He has amazing talent, undenialable patience, and a soft-spoken attitude. We have followed him in his adventure into Late Models and have been equally impressed with him. His parents deserve a pat on the back for raising such a well-rounded young man. Keep your eyes on him, he is on his rise to the top!!!!

Way to go Stephan, way to go!
