IHRA NITRO JAM™ DRAG RACING SERIES KICKS OFF 2007 IN SAN ANTONIO

 

 

 

NORWALK, Ohio (January 19, 2007) – As San Antonio Raceway is undergoing major track improvements in preparation for the upcoming Amalie Oil Texas Nationals, the first 2007 IHRA Nitro Jam™ event, fans have the opportunity to buy advance tickets today for one of the biggest motor sporting events in Texas.

 

 

 

“For fans that want to see the world’s quickest Nitro-powered cars, Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars, this is a must see event,” IHRA vice president of marketing Jim Marchyshyn said. “The Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series has become a major fixture now in San Antonio, providing an exciting weekend of fun for fans and families wanting to see world class professional drag racing at an affordable price. Kids get in for only $5.”

 

 

 

The professional classes competing at San Antonio Raceway March 23 – 25 include:

 

320 mph Torco Racing Fuels Pro Nitro Top Fuel Dragsters, the kings of the sport, the pinnacle of drag racing performance

Defending event class winner: Doug Foley

320 mph Torco Racing Fuels Pro Nitro Funny Cars, the quickest and fastest full-bodied race cars, a fan-favorite

Defending event class winner: Gary Densham

240 mph Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified, a diverse-group of wild, full-bodied cars embodying the true spirit of hot-rodding

Defending event class winner: Glen Kerunsky

220 mph Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Stock, the world’s quickest “stock” category, the cars maintain street identity while pushing performance limits

Defending event class winner: Frank Gugliotta

250 mph Alcohol Funny Car, known for long, smoky burnouts, powered by supercharged, fuel-injected engines

Defending event class winner: Mark Thomas

 

 

In addition, fans will see some of the toughest semi-professional Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am competitors, featuring hometown racers from across Texas and the rest of the country.

 

 

 

“An IHRA event offers more than just the racing on-track. Our pits are open to every fan that comes to the race, giving people the opportunity to walk around amongst the race rigs, talk to the drivers, get autographs, visit the midway,” added Marchyshyn. “We present a wide-variety of race cars as well, from the highest performing professional cars to entry-level classes. And every Nitro Jam event features a jet-powered vehicle that delivers the ultimate experience. When these cars launch, you can literally feel the heat and raw power they emit.”

 

 

 

Scheduled for March 23 – 25 at San Antonio Raceway, Marion, Texas, tickets for the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals can be purchased at www.sanantonioraceway.com. For the first time ever, IHRA is offering customers the convenience of purchasing tickets online and printing them at home. Through this method, fans will avoid waiting in line the day of the event to purchase tickets, or waiting for them to be mailed.

 

 

 

Ticketing options include single-day general admission, a Nitro Fast Pass, a Super Pass and Saturday-only reserved seats.
