NickHolt
Since the USRA site is down for a while, I am posting the USRA Modified and USRA Truck rules here on Texas Speed Zone as a download. 2007USRATruck.pdf 2007USRAModified.pdf
Truck99
In the engine section of the modified rules, Option 1 and Option 2 are listed. Are they correct as listed? Option 1 lists no engine restrictions but allows 2% more left side weight than Option 2.

STAGGER
If you are running a legal 2bbl motor your weight is 2550 & 58% left side. If you are running an "open" motor then you have two options. 2650 & 56% left or 2750 & 58% left If the rules have not changed from last year this should be correct
Truck99
Thanks Jason. I read them again, and it makes sense now. The line breaks in the document were messing up my clear understanding of the wording!
97car
What do they mean by no suitable treaded tire available? I beleive the 970 Hoosier is still available. Is the IMCA new Hoosier not compatible on asphalt? What about the old American Racer G60 that used to be run in IMCA? I liked the variety better we had a few years ago,the slicks handled better, even though the open moters had more power, was interesting to watch at SAS especially. With the 500 only carb it doesn't look like any dirt cars crossing over unless they have a carb already,JMO. Here is a thought, put up some money for the mods like the SLMs got and see how many might show up.

hray
Nick or Rick, Please clarify the Modified motor rule. At the bottom of pg 23, under "OPEN ENGINE Requirements", it lists the 2 options for weight & left side %. Then on pg 24 it goes into what appears to be the 2006 Restricted motor rules. Do the rules on pgs 24, 25 and 26 apply to the Restricted motors only or to the Open motor also? Can the Open motors run a 4 barrel - in other words, is it truly an open motor? If there are any rules that limit an Open motor, please specify them!

The only thing I saw that applied to open motors was "no dry sumps allowed", but I could have missed something also.
Rick Day
The rules for the modifieds are just as they were in 2006. If you run a legal USRA/TAMS motor then you will be 2550 lbs. If you run an open (wet sump) type motor you have the two options listed in the 2007 rules. Rick Day
