Budman
OK my friends, here's how its done. I found out from his wife my new next door neighbor really likes to watch NA$CAR on TV. I asked her, "How would he like to see some real LIVE racing in person". I told her I could take him. She told him about it. Later I talked to him and he agreed he would like to go. I took him to the Stock Car Spectacular at THR. We walked up to the pit window. I insisted on paying his way in. We walked into the pits. I looked around and spotted the modifieds at the back. I said "let's go, follow me". At the back of the pits, 20 modifieds were lined up double file, ready to go out and qualify. I took him right down the middle of them stopping to introduce him to the drivers along the way, as they were all helmeted and strapped in, ready to go out on the track. When we got past the last two cars, I turned and looked at him. I laughed, he had the most awe-stricken look on his face. Then I took him back through the pits introducing him to such groups as the Stapps, the Lehmans, the Tschorners and the McKims. By that time, the racing was ready to start, so we headed to the stands, and watched a great night of racing at THR. The results? He's hooked. He'll be back again and again. He's 26 and has a one year old son. In the years to come, THEY will be back. He told me he had never heard of THUNDERHILL RACEWAY, nor even knew they had that kind of racing around here. He does now! That's how its done people. Thanks for your help drivers, crews and families for making him feel so welcome there. direct-flo
Thats what its all about. I bet that every driver that was finished getting ready for the race had a hand out to greet his, if not at least a nod with wide eyes. a fan is born.
