(210) 648-7373 (office); (210) 685-0400 (cell) debwill@sanantoniospeedway.com United States Racing Association and San Antonio Speedway set 2006 Awards Banquet Date San Antonio, TX (December 9, 2006) - The United States Racing Association (USRA) and San Antonio Speedway will hold their 2006 Season Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Highland Social Club in San Antonio, Texas. Drivers, team members, sponsors, staff, family members and fans are cordially invited to attend. The top drivers from USRA and SAS will be honored at the banquet, including all of the series and track champions. The 2006 USRA champions include Chris Davidson from Pearland, Texas, in the Super Late Models, Billy Becka from LaVernia, Texas, in the Modifieds and Steve Green from Marble Falls, Texas, in the Trucks. The San Antonio Speedway track champions are Joe Aramendia from Seguin, Texas, in the NASCAR Late Models, Mark Mathias from San Antonio, Texas, in the Sportsman class, J.R. Eichelberger III from San Antonio, Texas, in the Road Runners and Jody Wayne Stuart from San Antonio, Texas, in the Grand Stocks. The Highland Social Club is located at 2929 S. W W White Road, on San Antonio's Southeast Side. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will follow dinner. After all the awards have been presented, guests may enjoy dancing to live country music that will be provided by the Jim Byrom Band. Guests may bring their own liquor to the banquet, excluding beer and wine. Beer will be sold at the banquet for $1.50 per can, and wine coolers may be purchased at $2 each. Soft drinks and ice setups are also available for purchase at $1.25 each. Dinner arrangements are still pending, so the ticket price per person has not been determined yet. More information on ticket purchases will be provided in the near future. San Antonio Speedway's President and General Manager, Rick Day, is looking forward to recognizing the USRA and SAS drivers at the banquet. "Although it was my first year here in San Antonio, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the drivers and staff this past year," said Day. "We have some very talented drivers in the USRA and at San Antonio Speedway, and they deserve to be recognized. And I also want to show my appreciation to the dedicated staff at the speedway." San Antonio Speedway will kick off its 2007 stock car racing season on Saturday, March 3, 2007, with the return of the ASA Late Model Series. The San Antonio Speedway Weekly Classes will also be racing that night, along with the Texas Pro Sedans.
