Here come the Trucks!

Austin, TX (11.27.06)- The theme for the Jan. 20 racing date in the Houston Motorsports Park (HMP) winter series will be “Keep on Truckin’.”

Or it could be, “Here come the Trucks.”

Either way, the race trucks will hit the 3/8th-mile, high-banked oval as part of the track’s Jan. 20 Winter Series race date. The assembly of trucks will heat up the winter series and provide a great race for those attending the track’s festivities that day.

“We appreciate Graham and David Baker giving us the opportunity to join their show on Jan. 20,” said Rusty Mirth of Austin, the truck race organizer. “We’ll run a 100-lap race that day. Right now, we’ve secured $1,500 for the purse; we’d love to double that amount by race day through sponsorships.”

Mirth continued, “We’re also proud to announce we’ve secured the services of K-MAC Sports Productions of Austin to do an online broadcast of the race. K-MAC Sports will join National Satellite, Royal Vista, Inc. and Austin Premier Homes as primary sponsors. We’re looking for other sponsors as well.”

Mirth stated that drivers like Steve Green, Jim Albert, Cameron Moore, Jr. and Brent Bell are expected to race. There will be an entry fee of $30 for the race and that will include transponder rental.

Mirth also said that acceptable tires for the race include “the American Racing 8-inch slick, the Hoosier 970 tread, a Goodyear 8-inch slick and the Goodyear 8-inch treaded tire run by Houston Motorsports Park.” The Goodyear brand will be available through HMP.

“We’re excited about running the trucks at HMP,” Mirth declared. “It’s a great track and we know the trucks will put on a great show for the fans.”

For more information on rules, sponsorship opportunities and registration, interested parties can contact Rusty Mirth at 512.784.5461 or by e-mail at xcellracing07@austin.rr.com. Mirth hinted there may be a competition yellow during the race; that information will be revealed as soon as possible. There will, of course, be a driver’s meeting before the race to go over all rules and race procedures

Not at all. The truckers are just fine. But it is nice to see big motors when a touring series comes to town and HMP refuses to allow it.

sorry, i can't find the guy banging his head on the keyboard; but <insert here>

when have the trucks ever run anything other than 302,305,318 or 350?

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!
