Primary Sponsor - Motorola; Associate Sponsors - Argent Mortgage (she must have brought that one along with her), XM Satellite Radio and Go Daddy.com (They must have liked Leilani's color scheme.) tqj3 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Share Posted September 13, 2006 Yeah, the announcers said during the race telecast Sunday that the team would be announcing the new sponsors on Tuesday, and they had already announced 21 million from Motorola. Not surprising that Argent came with her; I'd think they'd be pretty happy so far with the attention she's brought them. Who'd heard of Argent before Danica? I think you can look for her to be in a much better car with Andretti-Green. By the way, have you heard why she was back in the Panoz two races ago? Here's a question to ponder ......... IRL teams have gone almost exclusively to Dalllaras. On the other hand, Champ Car is or has gone exclusively to Panoz. There keeps being talk of the two rejoining each other. That's one very expensive difference they would have to resolve before a merger could be agreed on. Huh? MUmscheid 51 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Share Posted September 15, 2006 danica was in a panoz at infinion raceway in sonoma because some people feel that the panoz is a better short track / road course car for downforce.......both of the ganassi cars were using a panoz and all three rahal cars. other teams may not have a panoz or dont think it is a big enough difference like us at aj foyt racing. MUmscheid 51 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Share Posted September 15, 2006 one more thing from the crew member point of view....... i was told by a very reliable source that in the event that panoz unveils the new champ car (which has now obviously happened) the merger deal is off untill atleast 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice job champ car instead of 2 series with 20 cars max we could have had one extremely competitive series with 10 oval races, 10 road course / street courses, and 3 short track ovals with 35 to 40 cars. Budman Posted September 15, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 15, 2006 No kidding Michael, the split (when was it, in '96?) has really hurt open-wheel racing in the US. Neither one seems to be able to come up with a full field of cars. In Houston, Champ started 16 was it? IRL rarely can field 20 except at Indy. It's just a damn shame.
