NeilTPS
Sergio Hexsel wins TPS race at THR Thunder Hill Raceway, Kyle, Texas (September 2, 2006) By: Neil Upchurch, Texas Pro Sedans – Race Director Sergio Hexsel, the defending TPS Champion, won his second Texas Pro Sedans feature race of the 2006 season at Thunder Hill Raceway on Saturday evening. In putting his VW Rabbit into the THR winner’s circle, Hexsel of Live Oak, Texas said, “we have turned the corner on a season of bad luck”. Current point leader Donnie Moore had a bad luck race night dropping out of his Qualifying Heat with distributor trouble which would also sideline his VW Scirocco for the Feature Race. In the Qualifying Heat Races, Lalo Leal returned to TPS racing with his Ford Mustang equipped with an arca head. Leal was in top form and won the first Qualifying Heat. TPS Rookie point leader Joshua Tuttle won the second Qualifying Heat in his Chevrolet Cobalt. Their wins earned them front row starting positions for the 20 lap TPS Feature Race. The 20 lap feature race was highlighted by three significant happenings. Joshua Tuttle took the lead and held it from the first to the seventh lap. Then Lalo Leal passed Tuttle and led the TPS pack for seven laps until on lap 15 when Sergio Hexsel appropriated the lead which he held to the checkered flag. His margin of victory was only 1.39 seconds ahead of Lalo Leal. A total of seven cars completed race on the lead lap. Following Hexsel, Leal and Tuttle in the lead lap serial were Mike Knotts in 4th. 5th and 6th went to Candi Hogan and John Miesen in their air cooled VW’s. Rick Dawdy brought his VW Rabbit home to another good finish in 7th place. Of the 19 car field who signed in at THR, several Texas Pro Sedans had serious technical problems in addition to Donnie Moore’s Scirocco. Tom Johnson’s #15 VW Rabbit had a blown engine in his heat race, John Wasek’ s #74 VW Scirocco had a transmission fail in practice and Ozzie Osburn’s #22 Mustang was unable to practice due to engine problems. The San Antonio based Texas Pro Sedans touring series will conduct the 11th race of it’s 12 race 2006 season at San Antonio Speedway on Saturday night October 7th Time Trials and a 30 lap Feature Race are scheduled to be presented by the four cylinder TPS stock car series in support of all three USRA classes, the USRA Super Late Models, USRA Modifieds and USRA Truck Series as part of the annual “Octoberfast” SAS event.. TPS will return to Thunder Hill Raceway on Saturday night, October 28 as part of the annual “Texas Stock Car Spectacular” presented by THR. That event will mark the end of the Texas Pro Sedans 2006 season and will complete TPS’s 31st consecutive racing season. Further details about this event are contained in the Official Race Results and 2006 Driver Championship Point Standings. NickHolt
Those air-cooled bugs are coming on strong. Candy Hogan and John Miesen ran strong races as did Lanny Young in the Karmen Ghia - until something broke on the 16th lap. And that Chevy was right there the whole race. Lalo Leal had one of the fastest TPS cars (probably the fastest), but his car was very loose on cool tires - people were able to get by him until they warmed up a bit. Points leader Donnie Moore missed both his heat and feature due to electical problems. Nick

Hopefully, I can get something out of it in 2007. Congrats Sergio. I have to thank Dennis, he found my steering box was loose, and that apparently there was about 2 inches of tow-in on the right front. We'll see y'all at SAS. (By the way, great BBQ Lalo.) AARC67
Great job Lalo, It goes to show you still have something for those foreigners(cars). You got a few more tries to bring home the feature checker. I really think you have a shot at it. If my brother gets to feeling better, I guess i'll have to make the long ride to Kyle to support yall guys. I'll just drive home with one eye closed(lol)Good job and good luck on your next few races. NeilTPS
Crazyhorse: Lalo told me he was loose toward the end of the race because his locked rear end broke. Those final few laps were run with the #29 rear end performing like a differential on a street car. Sean Paul - I want to thank you for your interest in and support of the Texas Pro Sedan series. Good job Jesse Jr, and all the TPS drivers. Sergio

Hartracn19
How did hart 19 run did he get that overheating fixed .hey mike nice to see you got a good finish . Hey OldTimer - Missed seeing you at the THR. Jessie said you had to work...Now where are your priorities?? I think we have the overheating licked. We changed the Radiator, flushed the system, re-routed all the hoses, swapped back to a restrictor, added a second restrictor on the other side, and said lots of prayers!! She didn’t get past 200 in practice, and stayed at 180 through the main!!!! It was running pretty good, and we got a podium finish in the heat. The main results do not reflect how she ran, so we will just have to try again at the next two!!

Hartracn19
Lalo - Great BBQ, as always!! My children say you need to open up a restaurant. I must say I agree!! Also - Great run Lalo, and by Joshua in the 4!! And how about Candi. after our on track incident, sent to the back and make it all the way back up to 5th!! In fact, great race to all the TPS drivers!! Jessie Jr. in the 3 car - This is the second time (that I can remember) racing you. I like the way you drive. You hold your line. You don't block, but you do not just move over!! That is racing, and you have earned my trust!! Come race with us more often!
