Ware, Murphy to be Grand Marshals for ‘KTSA Night at the Races’

San Antonio’s NASCAR radio station – and it’s “racing personalities” – will highlight this weekend’s final regular-season of racing at Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle, TX).

KTSA, 550 AM radio (San Antonio), which runs the Performance Racing Network (PRN) NASCAR broadcasts on its station, will join Thunder Hill Raceway drivers, crews, families and fans this Saturday (Sept. 2) at the 3/8-mile paved oval.

To honor its guests, the Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS) Late Models will run the 550-KTSA 75.

Speaking of honored guests, KTSA’s Trey Ware and Dawn Murphy will be the Grand Marshals for Saturday’s racing activities. The A-Line Auto Parts Street Stocks will run the A-Line Auto Parts 50 and the great folks at A-Line Auto Parts/Arnold Oil Company of Austin will present a fan favorite – the A-Line Auto Parts Demolition Derby.

“Trey and his father, Ricci, are legends when it comes to local racing,” said THR co-owner Mary Ann Naumann. “Anyone who knows ANYTHING about racing knows the Ware family. They’ve contributed so much to the local and regional racing scene that they’re legends. We’re so looking forward to having Trey – and Dawn Murphy – at Thunder Hill to share some time with our great fans.”

Murphy has sat in with TSRS announcer/K-MAC Sports racing play-by-play voice Chuck Licata during The Motorsports Zone radio show (Saturday mornings on KVET-AM 1300, Austin).

“I think fans are going to enjoy meeting Dawn,” Licata stated. “She’s got a very outgoing personality, and this girl is all about racing! She’s going to have a blast mixing it up with the THR fans. And it’s always great to have Trey Ware around the local track; it must seem like a second home to him – outside of the radio studio of course.”

Naumann added, “I think Trey and Dawn – and the rest of the KTSA staffers and listeners who visit us on Saturday – will enjoy themselves. We know the THR fans are going to enjoy everyone from KTSA; it’s going to be a fun time for all.”

Racing starts at 7 p.m. with the A-Line Auto Parts Demo Derby to follow. The purse for the Demo Derby is expected to climb up to $1,500 for the winner with only a $50 entry fee. For more information on the Derby, folks can call 512.393-9471 and 512.262.1352. The rules are posted at the track’s web site, www.thunderhillraceway.com.

Admission for this Saturday’s racing action is just $18 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-12; kids under 6 years old get in free. There is a $2 discount for senior citizens, police and military personnel.

Announcements and information about Thunder Hill Raceway can be found at the track’s web site, www.thunderhillraceway.com or by calling the track’s hot line at 512.262.1352. Thunder Hill Raceway is located at Exit #210 off IH-35 North in Kyle (TX).
