rebelracewriter Posted August 28, 2006 Report Share Posted August 28, 2006 Smith Snags HOT Win  ELM MOTT—Dillon Smith from China Spring passed Michael Robertson from McGregor in the last turn of the last lap to win the I.M.C.A. hobby stock feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Tommy Franklin from Alvarado followed closely in third.  Brandon Hood from McGregor made it two in a row by winning the I.M.C.A. SportMod feature. Sam Sovey from Waco was second and Ritchie Robins from Lorena came in third.  Point leader, B.J. Dulock from Robinson, padded his lead after winning the I-stock feature over Eric Jones and Fred Ellis, both from Killeen.  J.P. Dowell from Killeen took the I.M.C.A. modified feature with P.J. Egbert from Copperas Cove in second and Keith Green from Robinson in third.  Ed Thompson from Waco and Tommy Kirkpatrick from Leroy dueled the entire street stock feature before Thompson edged out the win. Doug Andrews from Waco was third.  Melvin Kemp Jr. from Waco gained some points in the battle for the pure stock point lead with a feature win. Wade White and Jeff Williams, both from Waco, followed in second and third.  Michael Haisler from Elm Mott continued his winning ways by taking the cruiser feature win over Raymond Hixson from China Spring and Jeff Woodruff from Elm Mott.  Dylan Smith from Riesel is the driver to beat in the junior mini stock class. Smith won the feature followed by Jay Symm from Eddy and Corbin Taylor from Waco.  Tony Bean from League City topped the visiting Brazos Mini Sprint field with the feature win. Troy Wren from Bryan took second, and James Scruggs from College Station was third.  The Brazos Mini Sprints will return next Sunday night along with the Sprint Series of Texas as part of a big Labor Day Weekend Double Header. Friday night will be a regular race program for all classes. Street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks will be joining the two sprint car groups for a point race on Sunday. Gates will open at 6:00 P.M. and racing will begin at 8:00 P.M. for both programs. Check out our website at www.heartotexspeedway.com for more information.  Coming Events September 1, 2006 Friday 8:00 P.M.
