NickHolt
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 25, 2006 Contact: K-MAC Sports, 512.417.9414 Spreen looking forward to Corpus trip Dillon Spreen is unlike most 12-year-olds these days. While others his age are consumed with homework, daily chores and getting rides to school, Spreen (from Boerne, TX) is actually driving a race car – and stands as the points leader in the popular Lonestar Legacys series. Spreen and the Spreen Race Team will compete Saturday at Corpus Christi Speedway as the Lonestar Legacys race for the 11th time this season. To date, Spreen (who leads Jake Kruger by 30 points going into Saturday’s race) has eight top-5 finishes and nine top-10 finishes out of ten races. He has scored five second-place finishes this year and he set the fast time during qualifying twice (both times at Texas World Speedway on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6). Spreen – who drives the #81 South Bay/Spreen Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo took top honors at TWS as he finished fourth and second, respectively. As for Saturday’s race in Corpus, team co-owners Greg and Cherie Spreen say they’re looking for their son to come away with a top-5 finish. “Dillon raced at Corpus just one time last year,” Cherie stated. “We only got one five-minute practice session in before the race. Last year, too, the track was a little rough but new management put a lot of work in the track for this season. We understand it’s a great new surface; we’re all looking forward to our return to Corpus.” “Normally, we go into a race with the attitude that Dillon can win,” Greg Spreen revealed. “Obviously, with Dillon not having raced at Corpus since last year, we’re going to take a more conservative approach. We’ll get a few practice sessions in this weekend before the race, so I’ll get a chance to adjust the car as we need.” The elder Spreen added, “We’d be happy with a top-5 finish at this point. We’d love for Dillon to win yet we want to make sure we leave Corpus with Dillon holding the points lead.” Information about Dillon Spreen can be found at his web site, www.dillonspreen.com.
