Mary Ann Naumann
Other pre-race notes: *It is HOT over here..drivers, crews and others are putting up with 100+ degree temperatures (so you can imagine what the temp. is for the drivers ON the track)... *There are 15 turns on this 2.9-mile road coarse..TSRS expects to run 5-6 laps with a time limit of 20 minutes (no full-track cautions are expected, we might have some local yellows on the road course)... *Running 10 laps on on this 2.9-mile course is equivalent to running 75 on a 3/8-mile track like Thunder Hill Raceway.. *The race was moved up to 1:30 p.m. its original 3:20 p.m. start time due to threat of rain

Mary Ann Naumann
Good point, Aaron.. The Sirizzotti's were actually going to use the backup car as their car for this race..however, they liked the setup for Kyle's Primary Car better...and they were happy to help out the Gurals (ironically, Tommy is the points leader coming into this race).. Mary Ann Naumann
At 1:11 p.m., we're getting some rain...more than just a sprinkle... Cars are going to go through tech as scheduled...they're going to bring the cars on pit road and cover them up and wait out the rain.. At 1:13 p.m., it's now a definite shower...everyone's covered up.. (take this as the joke it's meant to be)--word around the pits is that the Gural Racing team is responsible for doing a rain dance (Tommy doesn't feel they have the #09 backup car ready just yet).. Mary Ann Naumann
TSRS officials are working with TWS track officials right now... DECISION--TWS will run a couple of classes before they run TSRS, in hopes the weather dries up... There are classes here that can run in the rain.. A decision will be made as time goes on...in hopes the weather will clear up & the track will dry; it's hoped the weather will clear up and the other classes will help dry the track, giving TSRS the chance to run the race... At 1:25 p.m... the weather is clearing...they're going to try and start the TSRS race at 2:30 p.m.
Mary Ann Naumann
At 1:31 p.m. TWS announces they'll shoot for a 2:20 p.m. green flag for the TSRS race..
Mary Ann Naumann
At 1:50 p.m. Word out of the garage: Tommy Gural is NOT going to run the #09 backup car...instead, he's going to change his engine and he has the option to start from his qualifying spot (5th) or start scratch.. The rules, according to TSRS officials: Since this is NOT an impound race, Tommy can change his engine and NOT lose his starting position. If this had been an impound race, then changing his engine would have pushed him to a scratch start.. Also, we got about 15 minutes rain total..the track (because of the incredible heat) is dry...we're set for a 2:20 p.m. start
rebelracewriter
word around the pits is that the Gural Racing team is responsible for doing a rain dance (Tommy doesn't feel they have the #09 backup car ready just yet).. LOL That's a good one! Thanks for the updates for those unable to attend. Cool deal, the Sirizzotti's giving up the back-up car for Tommy to use. It would have been an easy way to pick up points on the leader. That's why I love racing.......we may not always get along or agree, but when the chips are down, we're all one big family!!!! Gotta love it!
