Thunder Hill Raceway to take Holiday Weekend entertainment into Fast Lane

Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle, TX) is ready to give fans of all sports a great getaway for the weekend as it will hold a Driver/Fan Appreciation concert this Saturday, July 1 and follow that up with the best in local stock car racing on Sunday.

"The concert will start when it gets dark on Saturday," said THR co-owner Mary Ann Naumann. "Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday; racers can practice for Sunday's events and folks can park their RVs and trailers at the track. The Pit Area opens at Noon and stay open until dark for testing and tuning. Because the event is BYOB, the music and festivities will be held in the Pit Area only. Cars will be charged $20 and pit crew members will be charged $15, but the music, camping and partying are free!"

Naumann added, "We encourage folks to bring their own barbecue grills; we want everyone to have a great time and share some good food and good times with some good friends!"

The qualifying and racing at THR starts at 5 p.m on Sunday and there will be plenty of on-track action for fans of all ages. Highlighting the action will be the Operation Interdependence 75, the fifth race of the 2006 season for the Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS). After the night’s activities, THR will put on a great Fireworks display.

Operation Interdependence®, Inc. volunteers, TSRS drivers and THR drivers will be on hand to accept tax-deductible donations for shipping costs, or product donations small enough to fit in a quart sized baggie. As a special bonus, everyone attending either night is invited to write a small note of encouragement and/or thanks to our troops.

The Operation Interdepence 75 will be broadcast live by K-MAC Sports Productions of Austin, online, at www.kmacsports.com. The race will also be available for replay (24/7) at the web site, free of charge, sometime Monday evening.

"We're also excited to announce," added K-MAC Sports co-owner Chuck Licata, "that we're going to broadcast the Thunder Hill Raceway A-Line Auto Parts Street Stocks race. We think the added race will enhance the broadcast and it's our goal to bring some well-deserved recognition to more of the local classes. No doubt, the Street Stocks put on a fantastic race every time they run; we're looking forward to our first-ever doubleheader broadcast of racing this Sunday at THR."

Besides the TSRS race (the Operational Interdepence 75) and the Street Stocks, racing will include the THR Hobby and THR Grand Stocks on Sunday. Those classes will be joined by the Lone Star Legacys, the Texas Pro Sedans (the longest-running series in Texas short-track history) and the NASKARTS.
