NickHolt
For Immediate Release June 12, 2006 Contact: Mick Anderson (281) 460-5322 micka@bumberas.com Mechanical Woes Slow Kristin Bumbera in Super Speedway Debut Quickly rising female driver Kristin Bumbera's hopes for a debut Top Ten finish at Texas Motor Speedway were dashed early when a bad vibration forced her to pit on the 2nd lap of the USRA Konica Minolta 100 for a change of tires. Crew Chief and father Kenny Bumbera got her off pit row quickly but not before four laps were completed. After getting up to speed she and Bumberas Performance Associates team driver Eddie Mann drafted the high banks of the famed Ft. Worth 1-1/2 mile tri-oval well and settled into the middle of the pack while maintaining consistently improving lap times, which is every rookie racer's first goal. Then on lap 55 Kristin's suspicions were confirmed when the TXI-Maximizer Concrete 2006 Monte Carlo's rear-end blew up forcing her into the pits for the second and final time with just 15 laps to go. "I was very disappointed with our 20th place finish", said Bumbera. "We had such a great week-end with the media and our fantastic sponsor TXI-Maximizer Concrete, who have their corporate headquarters here in Dallas, and we really wanted a Top Ten finish for them. I'm so thankful they allowed me to experience a super speedway race this season. We're going to come back next year with some more horsepower and use what we learned here this week-end. Overall this experience was invaluable and I appreciate the opportunity." Bumbera will return to her home track, Houston Motorsports Park, this Saturday June 17th looking for a repeat 50-lap feature win on the 3/8ths mile asphalt oval where she competes on a regular basis with the “boys”. Other 2006 planned events include a road-race at Texas World Speedway in College Station, TX and several late model races at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle.
