Sirizzotti Take Pole for Kevin Suberg Memorial 75

By: Pat Mayberry

Texas Super Racing Series "Rookie of the Year" candidate Kyle Sirizzotti

earned some bonus points Saturday night in the Kevin Suberg Memorial 75 at

Thunder Hill Raceway. Sirizzotti was the final car of the night to qualify

and made the most of his final lap, putting down a 15.753, beating out

fellow Rookie Cody Smith. Sirizzotti has just missed the "TXRacing.com Pole

Award" twice this season, but when Chris Schild hit the wall in practice

avoiding a spinning car, Sirizzotti made the most of the opportunity.

"The track was pretty greasy out there. All the cars had trouble keeping

trying to keep it straight coming off turn 2 and turn 4 and just tried to

stay on the gas and not lift coming out of those turns," said Sirizzotti.

"We've had great practices all day. We were here Friday to make sure we had

everything dialed up and knew we would be pretty good today. We have to

expect things to tighten up for the race tonight, but you never know with

this track how much it will change."

After tech, Sirizzotti was first to draw for field inversion and again made

the most of the opportunity when he pulled the number 1, assuring himself of

the pole for the start of the race. Passing on the outside is difficult due

to the tight confirms of Thunder Hill Raceway. When asked about race

strategy for the night Sirizzotti joked, "Stay out front." Those are smart

words since Bobby Joe New won from the pole in the series first visit to THR

back in April.
