Daniel Tribute at HOT

Â

ELM MOTT—Cody Daniels from Bellmead started the race program with a couple of parade laps in honor of his late grandfather, Tom Daniel, Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. He was joined on the track for two more laps by a host of fellow drivers as family and friends stood at the top of turn one in tribute to a man who had assisted many of them with their own racecars. Daniels later won third place in the pure stock feature that was won by Melvin Kemp Jr. from Waco with Thomas Schmidt from Robinson in second.

Â

P.J. Egbert from Copperas Cove picked up the win in the I.M.C.A. Modified feature. Local driver Cody Williamson ran second and Ronnie Warren from Oglesby took third.

Â

Elm Mott driver Benji Kirkpatrick led Jason Honey from Waco and Chad Estes from Troy to the checkered flag in the I-stock feature.

Â

Last year’s champ, Keith White from Academy, beat a full field of I.M.C.A. SportMods to the finish line in the feature race. Chase Jupe from West had his best finish of the year in second, and Chris Wills from Waco ran third.

Â

Young Mark Bullock Jr. from Sunnyvale was best in class in the I.M.C.A. hobby stock feature. Charles Cosper from Belton and Dillon Smith from China Spring were second and third.

Â

Mark Geurin from Whitney won the street stock feature. Paul Bolfing and John Heffelfinger from Waco moved up to second and third place when the second place finisher’s car failed a post race inspection.

Â

The cruiser feature win was inherited by Michael Haisler from Elm Mott when the first place finisher’s car did not pass the post race inspection. Russel Bullock from Waco and Heath Zucha from Leroy advanced to second and third places.

Â

The top three junior mini stock racers were Corbin Taylor from Waco, Kyle Davis from Robinson, and Aaron Childress from Bertram.

Â

Troy Wren from Bryan took home the winner’s trophy for the visiting Brazos Mini Sprints’ feature. Second place went to Tom Hutchinson from Kennedale and third to Barry DeCrane from Austin.
