For Immediate Release: Race Results - Texana Raceway Park - Sat. May 20th

Another Great Night of Racing at Texana Raceway Park. By Chelle Brown

Adding extra money to three classes not only added money for the top drivers but, also extra drivers in three classes. The winner of the Bomber feature, Monty Chamberlain #55 of Louise, took home $350 for the win. With a win in the SportsMod division Aaron Hudgeons #7 of Cuero earned $500 and Bill Pittaway took $750 away on his first win in the IMCA Modified division.

In the feature events of the evening Justin Bloom of Blessing took first, Nicholas Moore of Victoria in a close second and Buddy Moseley of rounded out the top three in the Mini Stock division. The Dwarf division had close racing all night with Frank Fruia of Wallis taking the checkered flag, with Steven Gilbert of Bay City close behind, and Stew Savage also of Bay City taking third. The Bomber division saw a bit of tough luck with the fast racing going after the bonus money of the night. Starting at the rear Monty Chamberlain of Louise, Diana Russom of Lake Jackson, and Sandra Hudgeons of Cuero fought hard to come from the behind and take first, second and third place. G.W. Hessong of Edna was quite pleased with his first checkered flag finish of the season in the Street Stock division with Joe Horne of San Antonio coming in second and Frank Torres also of San Antonio coming in third. Taking a hat trick in the Hot Stock Truck division Jimmy Rogers of Victoria took his third checkered flag with Darryl Davis of Victoria taking a second and Bob Ort of Inez coming in third. In the Super Stock division Scott Turner of Sheridan took his second checkered flag of the season with Adam Perks of El Campo, close on his bumper and Lucky Gilbert of Freeport not far behind. The Late Model class had a bit of tough luck but, to no surprise Kevin Migura of Victoria came out on top with Buck McFarlin of Inez running about a car length behind, followed by Rory Jordan of Victoria taking a third. The SportsMod division saw Aaron Hudgeons of Cuero make a come back to take the checkered flag once again and also pick up the bonus money. Philip Cantu of Bloomington took second and Vince Louden of Shiner with a close third. It was an exciting night for Bill Pittaway of Corpus Christi who took his first ever checkered flag in the IMCA Modified division and also bonus money. Bobby Grobe of Corpus Christi took second when Mickey Helms of Victoria lost a drive shaft in the final lap, and Art Rodriguez of Richmond would round out the top three.

The exciting night saw many changes in leaders and several accidents to keep spectators on their feet. Racing will return to Texana Raceway Park on Saturday, June 10th starting at 7:30pm. The track is located 3 miles southeast of Highway 59 on Highway 111 just out of Edna, Texas.
