San Antonio Speedway Places a $500 “Bounty” on Late Model Driver Joe Aramendia

San Antonio, TX (May 2, 2006) – He has won the last five NASCAR Late Model feature events in-a-row at San Antonio Speedway (SAS), so SAS General Manager Rick Day announced today that the Speedway will be posting a $500 “bounty” for anyone able to beat NASCAR Late Model driver Joe Aramendia “fair and square” in a NASCAR Late Model feature event.

“We know that Joe can be beat,” Day said in announcing the bonus that will be paid in addition to the regular purse money awarded. “And we’re giving our Late Model teams a little extra incentive to do so. We have some of the best drivers in Texas competing at our track and it’s just a matter of time, but until someone beats Joe the track will add another $100 to sweeten the pot every race night.”

Of course, there are a couple of stipulations.

First, Aramendia has to be on the lead lap at the finish and have no obvious mechanical problems such as a flat tire, running on 7 cylinders, etc.

Second, if more than one driver beats Aramendia the highest finishing driver will receive the bounty money.

Will anyone be able to claim the bounty this weekend? Perhaps, since the NASCAR Late Models will be in action this Saturday at the half-mile, high-banked SAS oval competing in a 40-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series event.

Also on the program will be the United States Racing Association (USRA) Modified Series in a 75-lap feature and the USRA Truck Series in a 50-lap feature, as well as the highly-competitive Sportsman, Road Runners and Grand Stock classes.

The grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying taking place at 6:15 p.m. The racing action takes the green flag at 7:00 p.m.

SAS is located at 14901 State Hwy 16 South, San Antonio, TX 78264, 3.5 miles outside Loop 410 (towards Poteet). The SAS race hotline is (210) 628-1499
