USRA & Mccreary Tires?

torque

Recommended Posts

There is a rumor going on that all USRA classes will be going to Mccreary tires in 2006, im pretty sure that the late models are already running them in the 10" but the trucks and mods will have to switch over to the 8". I just wanted to see what everyones opinion is if they did switch.

you won't get what you get out of a 970 life cycle wise no matter what the compound........and to break away from ARTS would be a big disappointment to me......what other series do you get a chance to content for two championships at once?

The Hoosier rubber is better than the American Racer, which replaced McCreary.

American Racer is trying to horn in on some of Hoosier's share of the racing scene, thus monetary incentives.

The real issue here is we need them ALL on the same rubber. Having a couple classes on Hoosier and then the SLM cars on A.R. is ridiculous. Ask most of the SLM driversabout starting a race after a few Hoosier classes have run. It is damn scary for them, and one of the main reasons you have problems on a start due to wheel spin.

From what I understood, the USRA doesnt like the ARTS rules (to many gray areas) BUT it was in the contract to run under ARTS rules for 1 year(2005), then they would change some rules and only be sanctioned under USRA..... What we were told it will not be ARTS in 2006.... That was said at the beginning of the season............

What other regions? there is only like one left i think that is arts and if we go like the west coast pro trucks that wont be good. I have a WC pro truck and the whole reason he didnt race it was because it didnt have WC pro truck purchased parts on it and he wasnt going to buy them from WC pro trucks. Example they wanted him to run a torque converter purchased from them and the one he had(which is arts legal) was not legal in the WC pro trucks, basically the guy who owns the pro trucks is running a monopoly on the parts and the guy i got this truck from said they have no trucks in that series that every one is selling them. Any truth to that i dont know its just what i was told.

Wayne and his crew are working on the 2006 Truck rules. We anticipate that if your truck was 100% legal under the 2005 rules, it will be real close under the 2006 rules. The main thrust of our efforts is to tighten up several of the loopholes and gray areas in the existing ARTS rule book. We are also looking at including an option or two that may make the series more attractive to some. That's all I can say about the rules at this point because there is some ongoing research we are completing before final decisions are made.

We have had numerous inquiries from folks wanting to run with the USRA trucks in 2006 and we're looking for bigger truck counts than before. We understand that several of the existing truck teams that are selling are actually upgrading equipment or getting their backup trucks out on the track with a new owner.

WHAT GIVES???

An option of racing locally at SAS???

LOL...

Nothing earthshaking.. just looking at a couple of areas that may or may not be in the 2006 rules when they come out.

Rusty,

That is interesting... When I spoke to the guy who owns WCPT in Irwindale, he wasn't to in favor of how ARTS made people buy certain things... That was one of the reasons why when ARTS( The original company in Arizona ) began to go down hill he broke off from them... To say that he is now running a monopoly makes me wonder what changed his mind or his ways...
