  2. Congrats to Kevin Hav-a-wreck....the REAL points champion

Johnson point races when it counts. If it were the old format he would most likely drive the first x amout of races differently than they race with the chase format. Untill Hendrick, Chad or Jimmie changes things up things are not going to change much. They just race smarter than everyone else. The combination of Chad and Jimmie have got to be considered one of the top 3 Crewchief/Driver combinations of all time. Maybe even top 2... Anyhow it is what it is...
  3. dirt track

  4. Head question...

Was looking at the rules for the Sportmods for a friend of mine and saw which heads were legal for them. Is the EQ IMCA stamped head the best option because if having a clean aftermarket casting or is there much difference between that and the 487x 441 993 heads. Just wondering... Thanks ahead of time...

The problem to me is the vagueness of the rule because it says nothing about civil discussion or not it basically says you cant excessively be negative. So even if you try to be civil about it at some point it will be excessive the problem is where is that point. To me there are way too many people who at the local level from Late Models down to go carts that tend to take things way too serious and loose the fun in doing what we all enjoy to do. No rule no track is ever going to have that go away. If you go to your local track you know who they are they are at every track some are really good people who sometimes don't think before they act. Heck a lot of the time the worst offenders sit in the stands and say things that would make Nick blush but they come back week after week...

Id say there are a lot if intelligent people in that list especially if you take me out of it lol...
  10. Clarification on THR policy on forum posts

Thanks to a friend that I will keep nameless at this time apparently the rule includes family members and friends as a part of the team.... Here is the rule... 22. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT (a) Each driver is responsible for the conduct of their entire crew, team members, relatives and friends (j) Excessive negativity towards the facility, HMP officials, any HMP class or any race team on any public internet forum or website by anyone associated with any team (see 22a above) will result in that driver being banned from the facility. Wow so exactly how are we supposed to control what someone else is free to think and say. I think thats going a tad bit overboard. To meif someone ends up getting banned or loses a tight points battle then its only asking for trouble....JMO
  11. Clarification on THR policy on forum posts

I think the big deal about it is that not alot of people knew about the rule that was implemented nor was it brought up on here till now. Im sure if it were we would have had this discussion a long time ago... I'd be more curious if anyone has been given any warnings or been suspended because of the rule as well or are they in the witness protection program as we speak? lol
  12. Clarification on THR policy on forum posts

I can understand to a point about public forums like LSSZ but to me adding in Facebook and other sites that are more private in nature is a fine line to draw. Thats tantamount to me being at a restaurant having a converstaion with Crazyhorse about a blown call at X track and a track official overhears goes to the track manager and is barred for an opinion during a private conversation though it was in a public place... Thinking outside of the box now, to me its a useless rule anyhow because it doesnt take into account friends of drivers, family members, fans, ect. It will be even worse if it comes to pass that someone gets barred because of what a family member or fan or friend of a particular driver said... JMO
  13. Snowball Derby

Though Its not looking good for me right now, I'm gonna talk about going there heck I think I might go....
  14. Head question...

I haven't seen the bench numbers - but looking at them I would assume they are more free flowing at the top end. So you probably wouldn't be gaining a whole heck of a lot on tracks 1/2 mile or less... He would mainly be racing on 1/4 to 3/8 size tracks around here in S. Texas...
  15. Head question...

From what reading I have done I have not seen one way or the other if they are different. Though I wouldn't think it would be a large amount since they are the same material...
  16. Head question...

I understand where your going with that Mr. Bishop. I have seen many a race won with less power than the other guy on dirt especially. I guess its safe to assume that the open chamber heads like the 441 and 487x when not allowed to do more than just a 3 angle valve job are in essence are very close to once another upon application. With the car setup correctly I just dunno if there is justification in buying a set of the new IMCA legal EQ 350I head when there are is a perfectly good set of 441's or 487x's available. I guess what I mean is are you going to see that much of a difference if prepped the same for the same application...
  17. Head question...

My understanding is the EQ head (out of the box) is supposed to be equivalent to a 487x. The problem is that these days, good 487x's are getting hard to find. IF, (or when) I am in need of new heads, I will be moving over to the new EQ heads, instead of investing all the time in finding, and then preparing a set of 20 year old castings. My suggesting to get the maximum potentional out of the heads, is to get them from someone who knows how to make them work. I would suggest Spreen Racing Engines! He currently has a pair of good 441's but was unsure on how much better either the EQ 350i or the 487x flowed in comparison. I know the 487x is getting hard to find but if he can save some $$$ and still have plenty of power with the 441's then he may go that route...
  18. SKAINS, SNYDER, AND HILAND

Is there chance of getting light exiting the track to the pits could have swore there was some before... Getting hard to see back there...
  19. Here's one likely to get a round of approval... During the main the 99 truck starts at the back half a lap down each race.... lol... Congrats again on a great season Chase, Cary and Gunnar...
  20. Racing Superstitions

That sounds pretty damn funny... lol... I could have swore I have heard Crazyhorse tell me about the Green on the car but I could be wrong... Then again that didnt hurt John Kelly any lol... I try not to get caught up in superstitions but I do keep the same routine on going to the race track including getting fuel at the same gas station and eating at one of 2 different places. Worked well so far. Guess everyone has their own vices...
  21. ***FREE Spectator Admission on 10/30/10***

  24. TEST AND TUNE?

I would come... Just would need to know when it would end... Might not be able to leave work till 3p.
  25. USMTS?

Even that got watered down and car counts went down as well... For various reasons but thats a totally different can of worms... The bigger point is that the classes that cost more to run I.E. Late Models, Modifieds ect the counts are dwindling ... Why? Because the cost to race is alot more now. But if you look at the classes like frontrunners/twisters and pure stocks/street stocks where you spend less money the counts are going up. Thats because the cost to race while important has not hurt them as much as the higher classes. Too many drivers are pricing the class out of existance. Unfortunately in South Texas the sport isnt as popular as it is as in say Iowa or Kansas or the Dakotas. Even the tracks up there are hurting. Hell even in North Texas the counts are down as well. I dont have an answer for it. I dont think anyone really has a fixall answer until money starts to flow back in in the form of sponsorships and people making more money that they can spend on a car. I would be willing to bet that even someone who you may think has alot of money like Greg Dinsmore has spent alot less money this year on racing that he has in awhile not because he wants to but because work is slow and the incoming dollar is less. I hope it changes for the better but its going to take time.
