  1. If it's still running, I'm sure the suspension setup would be much different today. Brother in law originally modified the rear frame rails and changed the rear trailing arms to leaf springs and a pontiac rear end. You can kind of see it in the pics here. Front suspension was modified from stock as well, but not sure how.
  2. I posted on craigslist about the car and he responded through craigslist email. The name came across as Mike Chance, but with an encrypted type of email address. He said his name was Mike, and that he owns it and runs it...Corpus Christi TX. He didn't specify if he lived in Corpus Christi, or just ran the car in that area. I was assuming oval, but could be road course? I honestly have doubts on whether it's the same car. I mean, that's a 40 year old "street stock" chassis. I'm trying to find the guy in Springfield MO he said he bought it from, but not much luck yet.
  3. Mike Chance also mentioned he changed the car quite a bit since he's owned it. He mentioned it was white & blue with the number 00, but that was in 2018-19. I think he also chopped the top, but is still the 66 chevelle body and frame. Figured someone might know him or the car if he's only running asphalt. I appreciate all of the feedback so far!
  4. Thanks for the response. The email I got from him indicated he changed a lot of the suspension over to race asphalt, and that was early 2019. Doesn't seem to be many places left in that part of Texas to run asphalt anymore. Still not sure if it's really the same car, but it's possible. He mentioned he bought it in Springfield MO years ago, but not sure the path it took from eastern Iowa to Missouri.
  5. Looking to reconnect with a driver in the Corpus Christi area that is running a 1966 Chevelle that was converted from a dirt car to asphalt. Driver is Mike Chance, and lost his email last year and wanted to follow up to see how it's working out since there doesn't seem to be many asphalt tracks operating anymore in Texas. Got connected with him a year ago when I was searching the history of my brother-in-law's '66 Chevelle that he raced on dirt in Iowa in the late 1970's, and the path it took after he sold it in 1980. Somehow Mike responded to a Craigslist ad I posted looking for history on the car, and said he's been racing it. Hard to believe that car has been around that long! If anyone knows Mike Chance and knows how to get a hold of him, or which track he would be racing at, please let me know. Attached is a picture of the car from 1978...I'm sure it's much different now.
