Texas World Speedway Road Race for 4 cylinder cars

Recommended Posts

ATTENTION ALL ALLISON LEGACY DRIVERS AND CREWS!

Tom and I have been interested in competing on a road race with our Legacy cars and finally:

GREAT NEWS:

National Auto Sports Association, (NASA) has invited the Texas Allison Legacy racing series to race with them this year at Texas World Speedway in College Station. This will be a 2 - day racing event on August 20 and 21, (Saturday & Sunday).

Here is a brief overview of the racing schedule for the weekend. ( I don't have the exact times yet. That will be set up by NASA when we get closer to the dates.

Saturday:

General Practice, approx.15 minutes

Qualifying Sessions approx. 20 minutes

Race approx. 30 minutes

Sunday:

Qualifying Sessions approx. 20 minutes

Race: approx. 30 minutes

Fun Race: approx. 30 minutes

Times may vary, and if there is more time we will get more practices. All times tentative.

NASA website is: www.nasatx.com

*Note* we are a guest series to the NASA family and are very grateful for the opportunity to be included in their fun!

racingnut,

Yes we will be racing the 2.9 mile road circuit.

Any of those series/classes that run 4 cyl. can compete on the track.

*Note*

Please check with your local promoter and if your class is not racing, then we have a place for your car to race.

We do not wish to pull cars from a local class and/or series that already has plans for that weekend.

Keep in mind we are "guests" and this is a non-points race.

This is scheduled for a "fun outing" at the famed Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas.

Some of the guys in the Pro Sedan class have raced there many times and I'll bet they would teach us a thing or two!

Thanks, Mel

Is there any entry fee? If so, how much is it?

And will this be a NASA sanctioned event? If so, didn't the SLM guys race with them one time at TWS? Or is my memory completely failing me...

Nick - ROMCO SLM's raced at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) only once under NASA control.

Texas Pro Sedans had to decline Mel's invitation to race at TWS because were are working on and will soon announce an oval race date which would conflict with his TWS schedule.

Now, this sounds like fun and a lot of fond memories that come to mind thanks to a great Racing Director/Promoter, Mr. Neil Upchurch. Congratulations to those putting this one together!

Nick, I believe they will be paying the same thing that all nasatx members will be paying.

you can search that at www.nasatx.com

Thanks 4lugnutz. I did go to the NASA site and found this information. No wonder no one could say how much the entry fee was. Looks like they have fees that you can tailor to suit your needs.

But the NASA website said it was a two-day event so that would put the registration cost at $275 with transponder rental of $55. Somebody correct me if I've screwed this up. I'm asking because a friend of mine is thinking about giving the NASA event a try.

Race/Comp Entry  2 day $275 /1 day $175  = ______

HPDE 1-4  Entry 2 day $200 / 1 day (sat only) $125  = ______

Time Trials  Entry 2 day 275 / 1 day $175 = ______

Additional Options

Garage (TWS ONLY)  $25  = ______

2nd Driver  1 x $50  =  ______

(for those sharing a car in the same run group session)

Extra Lapping Sessions - # of sessions ____  x $30  = ______

(only race group entrants can purchase extra time during DE group sessions; contingent on space available &limit of 2 extra)

Passenger(s)      number of passengers ___ x $ 15  = ______

(Only allowed during the DE group and with approval of NASA)

Transponder Rental: (per weekend)  1 x  $55 =  ______

Late fee $35.00 entries rcvd 7 days prior to event = ______

                                              TOTAL AMOUNT $__________

Re: Texas World Speedway Race August 20 & 21

Final schedule will be out tonight. Here is what I do know...

FRIDAY: TWS TRACK PRACTICE DAY:

This is TWS practice and is available for $180. NASA does not operate or collect this. Better call to reserve a spot (TWS 1-979-690-2500).

NASA REGISTRATION FRIDAY FROM 6 PM TO 9 PM.

Building located at track (NASA BANNER) out by highway 6. Nasa would like as many cars as possible to register Friday evening, as the raceday starts early on Saturday.

TWS Charges $15 a car to park your car inside the track Friday night. They have security at the track. You can unload your car from 6pm till 10pm. This is the track, not NASA.

6:45 am Registration opens (same building)

7:15 am Track walk/drive through. Nasa would like all *new* drivers to attend this meeting to help them with the do's and do not's on a road course race track. They will also discuss the possible problem area's of this course.

8:15 am MANDATORY DRIVERS MEETING....All drivers attend. They will also have a seperate drivers meeting afterwards for the Legacy's.

9:00 am CARS ON TRACK....

5:00 pm MIXER OR GET ACQUAINTED MEETING AT THE TRACK. (Meet the officials and corner workers.)

SUNDAY:8:00 am CARS ON TRACK....

This is what I have for now, I'll have the full schedule tonight and will post it and e-mail it to everyone that I have.

Thanks, Mel
