David's race on Saturday

Recommended Posts

Well, here's tonight's race from one man's perspective...included with some phrasing of the post-race interview I did with David in the garage with some of his BEST fans!

*David started 3rd but kept falling back in the first green-flag period...as he said afterwards, "The truck just didn't do too well on the long green-flag runs. We did much better on the short runs."

*The pit crew seemed great, especially early on. David came out of the first round of pit stops in 9th place...and man, he was up to 6th place in NO TIME! Then, in the second round of pit stops, he came out 7th and was quickly back in the Top 5!!

*Then came another LONG green flag run after the 4th pit stops..he was up to 5th, but dropped..and dropped..and dropped..after a while he was in 11th...it was like there was a lead weight in his truck!! Fortunately, things picked up for David after a green-flag pit stop, his last one of the night. He came out 15th, moved up to 13th then caught some breaks as some of the lead trucks ran into some bad luck...He finished 9th...

*David was not happy to finish 9th at Texas. He SOOOO wanted to do better - and win - for all of his fans! He said that he looked forwrad to next week's race at Michigan, and was glad that he'd be able to get back out on the track right away...

There were a lot of David's fans in the garage after the race. Although he was upset with his finish, he seemed tickled pink by all the fan support in the garage...

PERSONAL OPINION: It's too bad...seemed like David had a top-5 truck tonight. That second long green-flag run killed him; some attrition helped push him to 9th. But you gotta love him---he WANTED SO BADLY to finish better than he did. The fire, the spirit of competitiveness--NO ONE better not question David's will or desire to win!!! His fans should be VERY PROUD to be David Starr fans!!
