Banner Year: Approaching the stretch zone of the 2021 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, Austin Wayne Self and AM Racing are enjoying a banner year. 16 races into the season, the team has just two finishes of 23rd or worse and maintains an average finish of 17.3 entering the In It To Win It 200.  He is mirroring his 2018 Truck Series season where he finished a career-best 12th in the championship standings maintaining an average finishing position of 17.0.
 
Austin Wayne Self Truck Series Darlington Raceway Stats: Sunday afternoon’s In It To Win It 200 will mark Self’s third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the 1.336-mile track.  In his previous two efforts, the Austin, Texas native has delivered a track-best of ninth in May’s LiftKits4Less.com 200 after starting 12th. In his track debut last year, he netted a 17th place finish from his 24th place starting position. He has completed 299 of the 299 laps available for a 100-percentage lap completion.

Austin Wayne Self Truck Series Speedway Stats: At NASCAR Camping World Truck Series tracks classified as a speedway, Self has made 71 starts throughout his career with five top-10 finishes, while also carrying an average finishing position of 18.7.
 
World Wide Technology Raceway | Toyota 200 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, Austin Wayne Self-made his 123rd NCWTS start. Starting 15th based on the metrics set by NASCAR without practice or qualifying, Self’s No. 22 GO TEXAN | AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet improved throughout the 163-lap race and utilized a late race restart to propel himself into the top-10 and earn a ninth-place finish in the Toyota 200. The finish was Self’s third top-10 of the season and first since finishing ninth at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway in May. The team also earned a 10th place run on the Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway Dirt in March.
 
16 races complete, Self and his Statesville, N.C.-based AM Racing have three top-10s, six top-15s, 11 top-20s and 14 top-23 finishes.
 
To The Point(s): Entering Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, Self sits 15th in the championship standings with 335 points earned and maintaining his points position following the Toyota 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.  91 points separate Self from 11th in the championship standings currently held by Grant Enfinger with six races remaining this season. Calling the Shots: Ryan Salomon will continue to lead Austin Wayne Self and the AM Racing team this weekend at the track dubbed Too Tough To Tame.  This weekend marks his 20th race as crew chief for Self and in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. During his tenure, he guided Self to an average finish of 16.5 during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, respectively.

Career Rundown: Since 2016, Self has competed in 123 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races, delivering two top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. He finished a career-best 12th in the championship standings in 2018.  Spanning six years of Truck Series competition, he maintains an average finish of 18.4.

On Darlington Raceway: “As a team, we are excited about going back to Darlington Raceway this weekend. It’s close to home and we had a really good run in the spring and hope to back it up on Sunday afternoon.  I’ve learned a lot in my two races at Darlington. It definitely can be a challenging track but if you can get into a rhythm and set yourself up to make passes, it can be a blast.”

On World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway: “I’m really proud of our AM Racing team. Our No. 22 GO TEXAN | AM Technical Solutions Chevrolet wasn’t the best at the start of the race, but Ryan (Salomon, crew chief) made some great adjustments, and we had a little bit of luck and were able to deliver our third top-10 of 2021. Hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling at Darlington.”   

On 2021 Season: “It’s hard to believe that the year is starting to wrap up. We only have six races left on the schedule and I definitely want to make the best of all of them.  There are some good tracks left for our AM Racing over the next two months or so and I think there is definitely an opportunity to score more top-10s and hopefully even a top-five before we close the books on the 2021 season at Phoenix in November.”

The In It To Win It 200 (147 laps | 200.1 miles) is the 17th of 22 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races on the 2021 schedule. The field will take the green flag on Sun., Sept. 5, 2021, shortly after 1:30 p.m. ET with live coverage on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 90.
