COTA opened in 2012 and has hosted Formula 1 races since it’s inaugural season. · Texas Forever: Circuit of the Americas is only a three hour drive from the Roper Racing shop in Baytown TX. I have very little road racing experience so my goal is to stay on the track, complete every lap and learn as much as I can. Shane and the guys built a really nice truck and we will have CarQuest guests at the track, which is great. We all are looking forward to getting back to normal at the race track.” From the Pit Box: Shane Whitbeck: “It’s really cool getting to go race at COTA. I like road course racing a lot. This is going to be a hard track to get around but Cory put a lot of work in to learning this place and I’m excited about being able to practice. I can’t wait to get to the track.
