TSTRS
I had a media person ask me what tracks in Texas would I recommend visiting on a road trip across Texas. And the question stumped me a little because I really do not know what tracks are still operating to recommend? (besides the ones close to me of course) Can you guys help me give them a good answer? Texas tracks dirt or asphalt, please. Is there a Facebook Page for this question as well that you may know of?
Bobby
Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Devil's Bowl in Dallas, would be two of the mainstays. Heart of Texas in the Waco area clearly has a very successful program. This website may help, although it is not kept current - https://www.racingin.com/track/texas.aspx Edited September 18, 2019 by Bobby
BADMOD97
Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale has an excellent program.
rails
South Texas Speedway and Texana are real treats. And of course Cotton Bowl is first class as well. I have not been to I-37 yet. And the NASCAR race at TMS with 2 nights of dirt racing is coming up soon. just ordered my ticket for the dirt races today. Turn5
I wrote an app for the iPhone that is a Texas race track directory. It is free and is a good way to explore what tracks we have across our great state. Additional info can be found here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/texas-race-tracks/id608786507?ls=1 I haven't updated the track data since January, so it is not completely current, but close. (Screenshots on the website are a bit more out of date)

arob
We did Heart of Texas on Friday night and Kennedale Saturday night . We stayed in Waco and to kill time before leaving for Kennedale visited the Dr. Pepper Museum and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. It was a great weekend. As for the three South Texas tracks if I were to go only one time I would pick the Hudgeons Memorial at Texana , the new DTK Memorial at I-37 and the South Texas Shootout at South Texas Speedway. top_shelf_12
Didn't see Route 66 in Amarillo and not sure if Lubbock is still running right now. Think all of the oval tracks have been listed. On the East side/Louisiana, you have Ark-La-Tex and Boothill as well. Did Timberline close? NeilTPS
It is a strange comparison … while the dirt tracks continue to operate … ALL TEXAS ASPHALT TRACKS ARE CLOSED. Many have been plowed under and will never race again. The only exception is Houston Motorsports Park with eight scheduled races in 2019. (4 races were run, 3 were cancelled due to rain). This is sadly true because my organizations raced at all Texas asphalt tracks hundreds of times before closure. Neil Upchurch Founder: TIDA Late Model Series Texas Pro Sedans Series Texas Race of Champions at Texas World Speedway I think that has a lot to do with the fact I could go take modified, sport mod, stock car and pretty much go to any dirt track and race on Saturday night. With my asphalt car I could only run at the one track because for a long time there in the late 90's and early 2000's none of the asphalt tracks had common rules.
