The family members in the stands do not dictate what goes on on the track. If you have a problem with something that happened on the track be a man and take it up with the appropriate party. It does no good to disrespect women and children with vulgar language and crude remarks. I'm posotive the appropriate party will be more than happy to discuss it with you.

EVERY DRIVER HAS THEM, EITHER THEY ARE ROOTING FOR YOU OR BOOING YOU. BETTER KNOWN AS BLEACHER SEAT DRIVERS. AS A DRIVER I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN, MY WIFE AND KIDS HAVE BEEN TOLD SOME NASTY THINGS IN THE STANDS. ON THE ON OTHER HAND ITS HARD TO HOLD THE DRIVER RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTIONS THAT HAPPEN IN THE STANDS.

This topic is in no way directed at a driver. It happens in the stands. The cheering and booing is what makes it fun for the fans. That's what makes them fans. We don't need to lose fans not one over something stupid like this. If a woman or a child is offeneded chances are they aren't going to return. That costs every one involved.

Racing, just like every other sport has folks in the crowd who cuss, yell for or against the team (driver) they like or dislike. Everyone is entitled to thier opinion, and last I checked FREEDOM OF SPEECH was still out there in the Constitution. I have been to my kids school events and heard the same as or worse than what I hear at a racetrack. If you dont like what you hear or see on the TV, change the channel, if you dont like what you see or hear at the racetrack dont go. Everyone who is involved in racing knows that the racers and fans at one time or another have gotten outta hand. Things are said or done that some might find offensive and others just let it go because it's not that big of a deal in the REAL WORLD. The real world is full of this kinda stuff and it doesnt look like its getting better. I take my kids to the races all the time at SAS, and I-37 and they have heard and seen it all. Because I have raised them with morals and values they know what to ignore and how to handle it when someone gets outta hand. I personally dont like the behavior I have seen sometimes, but I like racing, so I put up with it. I realize the world is not made up of fluffy white clouds and angels with 24kt gold halos.

Racing families cussing and arguing in the stands is a lot worse than cussing in the pits...we don't need to be making things uncomfotable for people in the spectator areas...while it doesn't bother some, it will probably bother someone and they might not come back...

missmindy29,

I'll be the first to tell you that my halo has a bunch of dents and dings in it... The comment that BIGFAt made was:

"The family members in the stands do not dictate what goes on on the track. If you have a problem with something that happened on the track be a man and take it up with the appropriate party. It does no good to disrespect women and children with vulgar language and crude remarks. I'm posotive the appropriate party will be more than happy to discuss it with you."

One thing I'll say is when I'm in the stands I watch what I say... There is a sign by the flag stand at SAS which states "This is a Family Sport. Please watch your language." This isn't my rule, it's SAS's... As I stated before my halo is far from round and pretty. I'm glad that you have raised your kids to ignore what they can't control. But this was something that was observed by a man that had been directed at a women and children. They may not be as tough as you and your kids...

I think everyone has a great point, as for the stands, yes you should watch your language, as for being directed tward women and kids,I have heard women in the stands make a sailor blush, lol, lol, and yes do watch what you say around kids, so many people have this misconsuption that ALL racing people are these low life ,no teeth, back woods dirty lookin, cursing,no shirt wearing people, this is from looking in the mirror, lol, lol, really the out side see racing people as just that, and to help our sport which has been getting better from NASCAR exposure, to improve the image of racing, the first time family see's all the racing hype and attend there first race(where ever they go to) to sit in the stands and here families fighting and cursing, they have just been exposed to what people think most racing people are,at sas there are some pretty respectable and out satnding people there, and yes booing and yelling at the flagman or other driver is the fun of going, just like baseball and yelling at the ump or other player, you can do this without fowl language, and the families of drivers need to get a check on them selfs when someone boo's there driver or says something negative to get over it and not respond wanting to fight, its all of the fun of sitting in the stands, whooping and hollering but also keeping control, and let the drivers handle the on track problems them selfs, most drivers can do this, its the fands who get the fights going. Lets all just have fun and help change the image of what people think of racing.

This was Bartles and James....and we thank you for your suport!!!! :D:P:rolleyes:

Miss Mindy,

I like racing. There are 3 tracks in our local area. I am somewhat of a regular at SAS, I have visited THR twice and I-37 once. I have never heard someone being vulgar to women and kids there, (not saying it hasn't happened, just haven't heard it), Thought that our night at THR was one of the better family nights we have had, and refused to go back to I-37 because a group sitting right behind us was swearing all night, and didn't care whether my 9 year old son was with me or not.

As to your first amendment right to cuss if you want to, well actually that right is in the constitution, but it ends at the gate into the race track. Your rights end at the tip of your nose, just like mine. If you notice there is a sign at the front fence of the bleachers telling you that bad language is not allowed.

As far as school events and to extend that to other things like little league s and such-Well I don't know where you're going, but we don't tolerate it in our area. Parents, paricipants, students, or anybody else who behaves that way is escorted off the premises. You want to know why some people think that's the way it always is and the world is just going that way? Well its because they are either part of the problem, or they think its not a problem. Those of us who do think it is a problem will continue to do our little part to make a clean family environment. You said if we don't like it don't go to the races. Well I would say that we will continue to go to the races, and we will continue to try to curb bad behavior when we see it, and if those people don't want to change the behavior then they can stay home from the races. Stepping down from my soapbox now.

Rookie 49,

Not sure if you read far enough into my post or not, but I do recall saying I DONT like the behavior I've seen, I HAVE seen the sign as SAS and have no problem with that. If theres something I'd like to say about a particular car or driver that I feel might offend someone I say it quietly and directly to whomever I am sitting with. I am glad your school and events has no cussing rule thats great. But I will point out to you that if you go to the mall, there are kids and adults who curse, if you go to the movies there is cursing there, not just in the seating but in the movie itself, music you listen to everyday has cursing, or hidden mixed messages in it. (even good ole country music has gotten into those round about ways of saying something)Almost everywhere you go these days there are people who run off at the mouth before thinking, and if you dont like it, dont put yourself out in it. That would mean cutting yourself out of society. For me, thats not going to happen. I enjoy going to the racetrack, not just SAS but all the tracks and I mean Corpus Christi as well, and if someones behavior offends me or their compulsive cussing gets on a nerve I get up and move, I dont just stop going to a track because of one party of people who gets on my nerves. My point was and still is that racing is NOT the only place this goes on at, and to read some of the posts on here you would think that racers and fans are horrible foul mouth people, and thats not the case with all of us just a few, and I have seen the the same thing at Spurs games, Cowboys games etc. I dont condone the behavior I've seen, but I do put up with it, not just at the races but everywhere, because I will not cut myself or my family off from society and what goes on out in the real world. And hey if you can clean up the world and the bad behavior in it great. I'm in favor of it. But I'm not going to pretend its not out there or feel like racing is the only place it happens.

I totally agree Jody. But, having that said, Cody would like me to call you out and expect you to race every race at Kyle. He says you'd be a coward to just sit at San antonio and collect your championship trophy when no-one ever shows up to race. Bring it on budy.
