MICHAEL DAY, CAME, SAW & CORRALLED BUFFALO SPEEDWAY PARK

Canton, TX (6/7/19) - The first-ever sprint car event at the new Buffalo Creek Speedway in Canton is now in the books, and when the dirt, occasional raindrops and side-by-side racing settled, Michael Day would take a solid feature race victory in what was also the first-ever visit of the Sprint Car Bandits to the facility.

20 sprint cars would be in the pit area with 17 taking the green flag in the 25-lapper in front of a full house.

The fans spoke and the results are in, and the bottom line was them commenting on how an exciting and entertaining event it was.

A grand total of 3 cautions slowed the show – but that included all the heat races too. Nary a car was torn up during the course of the event. SCB points leader Will Eggimann would get caught up in an incident when a car spun directly in front of him, and that resulting contact would bend his torsion arm, making the car a real handful to drive throughout the remainder of the event.

But it wasn’t a Day runaway.

Early leader, Louisiana’s Koty Adams, would fire off to a blazing pace on the wide paper-clip ¼ mile. Then, with no warning Adams would suddenly lose traction all on his own, resulting in a single-car spin and sending him to the back. On the restart, Day would take the point and never be seriously challenged the remainder of the event.

Thank you to the Canton area fans for showing up in droves for this event – all with a forecast that said ‘dry’, yet the reality, with massive rains just to the west and throughout the Metroplex. The feature event was concluded at 10:52pm.

A pair of drivers would score their highest SCB series finish ever, with Bryan Debrick finishing in 2nd and Josh Hawkins third. Casey Burkham would recover from an early spin to finish 4th, while Dale Wester had another solid run finishing in 5th.

Here’s the finishing order:

2 Michael Day ($1,500/winner)
10 Bryan Debrick ($1,000)
80 Josh Hawkins ($600)
45B Casey Burkham ($500)

71 Colby Estes ($390)
91 Craig Oates ($380)
