All Star Champ Reutzel Chases Trophy Cup Title this Weekend

CLUTE, Texas (October 18, 2018) – The 2018 season has already been a stellar one for Clute, TX, native Aaron Reutzel.

Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team secured the All Star Circuit of Champions title less than two weekends ago.

Now, Reutzel is taking to the left coast for the weekend to pursue the 25th Annual Trophy Cup title at Tulare, California’s Thunderbowl Raceway.  Reutzel takes the wheel of Willie Kahne’s No. 51 entry for the noted event that takes place over three nights beginning on Thursday.

Thunderbowl Raceway has proven to be one of Reutzel’s favorites, as he opened this season with his first career World of Outlaws feature win in just the third night of competition of the newly-formed BRM No. 87 Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X team.

It proved to be a sign of things to come, as Reutzel and the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment crew have since rolled on to 11 overall wins and the All Star Circuit of Champions title.

After winning the Peter Murphy Classic in his maiden voyage at Thunderbowl Raceway in 2015, Reutzel raced to a top-ten finish in his first Trophy Cup outing in 2016.

Reutzel comes off of another strong World of Outlaws effort last weekend aboard the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspensions entry at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway.

After a Jacksonville rainout on Friday, Reutzel timed in sixth on Sunday at Eldora and raced to a third-place finish in heat race action to earn the 11th starting position for the main event.

“I didn’t feel like we qualified as well as we should have,” Reutzel said of the early portion of the night.

After losing a pair of positions early in the feature, Reutzel climbed back up to ninth before wall contact brought an early end to the evening.

“We were pretty good in the feature, but we weren’t good enough to pass cars,” Reutzel explains.  “We just couldn’t make a good run in the middle.  I finally tried to make a big slider for ninth and just got into the fence and that was our night.”

Reutzel looks to make it an even dozen wins or more this weekend in Trophy Cup competition at the Thunderbowl Raceway.

2018 Quick Stats:  69 races, 11 wins, 27 top-fives, 39 top-tens.

Next Up:  25th Annual Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA, on Thursday through Saturday.
