Kyle Strickler penalized by DIRTcar Racing for Charlotte altercation

CONCORD, NC — DIRTcar Racing has handed down penalties to Kyle Strickler, driver of the No. 8 DIRTcar UMP Modified, following an on-track altercation during the OneDirt World Short Track Championship on Oct. 28.

Strickler was penalized for violating sections 2.2 (conduct) and 11.1-R (penalties and fine schedules) of the DIRTcar Racing Rulebook.

The incident in question took place during the DIRTcar UMP Modified All Star Invitational feature on the final night of the OneDirt World Short Track Championship, when Strickler and David Stremme made contact with one another while racing for the lead exiting turn two.

As a result of the contact, both drivers ended up against the outside wall on the backstretch, where Strickler got out of his car, quickly approached Stremme and started throwing punches before being pulled away from Stremme’s machine.

Strickler has been fined $200 and placed on probation for the entire 2018 season as a result of the altercation.

Per the DIRTcar Racing rulebook, members in good standing have the right to appeal the decision to the World Racing Group Appeals Commission.
