NickHolt
There was a while there when if you didn't have a Yates engine, you wished you did. Rest in peace, Robert. Prayers for his family and many close friends.
NickHolt
STATEMENT FROM TMS PRESIDENT EDDIE GOSSAGE ON THE PASSING OF NASCAR HALL OF FAMER ROBERT YATES FORT WORTH, Texas (October 3, 2017) - "I worked with Robert, who was the engine builder, for several seasons when Bobby Allison drove the Miller-sponsored cars. Robert always conducted himself with quiet dignity while producing maximum horsepower. It wasn't until decades later that Robert shared with me his full story of starting at Holman-Moody pushing a broom back in the 60's to NASCAR champion engine builder to Daytona 500-winning car owner to, much later in life, consulting with the Pentagon. He was a good, trusted, valuable friend and I was proud he lived to see he had been selected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame last May. My deepest sympathies to his wife, Carolyn, to his son, Doug, and to everyone else in Robert's family."
