Fremont Double on Tap for Reutzel after First Posse Appearance

CLUTE, Texas (September 15, 2017) – It will be new more territory for Clute, TX, racer Aaron Reutzel and the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car team with this weekend’s pair of events at Ohio’s Fremont Speedway.

Friday’s Fremont card features a $5,000-to-win FAST/OSCS tilt with Saturday’s finale of the Jim and Joanne Ford Classic offering up a $10,000 winner’s share.

“We’ve been on nothing but half-miles lately it seems,” Reutzel says.  “It’ll be a nice change of pace to get back on a shorter track.”

Reutzel goes into the Ohio weekend after spending his first weekend racing in Central Pennsylvania at Port Royal Speedway.  It was a weekend that netted an 18^th place finish amongst a field of more than 60 entries battling it out for the $50,000 winner’s share.

“We may have just run 18^th, but that was the most fun I’ve had racing all year,” Reutzel said of ½-mile clay oval in ‘Posse’ territory.  “It was slick, the track was racy and everyone we were racing against was good.  I had a blast.”

The weekend got off to a slow start with a sub-par qualifying effort on Friday night.

“We didn’t get a real clean hot lap session, so it wasn’t until qualifying that I realized how far off we were on gearing,” Reutzel said.

Reutzel battled forward to fifth in his heat race aboard the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions entry before getting shuffled back on a late restart.

Mired deep in the “B” Main due to the earlier qualifying effort, the hole was too deep to dig out of.

“We were decent, we passed two cars and those were (Lucas) Wolfe and (Brian) Montieth,” Reutzel recalls.

Saturday got off to a better start with Reutzel second quick among his group aboard the Nattress Construction/Wings Unlimited entry.  The heat race was cut short when caught up in a tangle at the start.  Fortunately, Reutzel’s qualifying time put him into the feature event.

“We had a really good car,” Reutzel said of the Wright Way Logistics/Walker Performance machine.  “We were battling hard just to run 18^th.”

Lapped just prior to the mandatory red flag stop, Reutzel ran 14^th over the second set of the race.

“All in all, we had good speed,” Reutzel sums up.  “It’s just hard to start that far back and have a real shot when 40 of the cars there could potentially win.”

With his first Posse weekend in the books, Reutzel now tries his hand on the Ohio oval in Fremont.

Reutzel has seen Fremont just once before, dropping a 360-ci powerplant in for competition in May of 2016 after his primary engine suffered problems.  This time, Reutzel has the 410-ci in place and ready to chase down that winner’s share.

2017 Quick Stats:  64 races, 6 wins, 23 top-fives, 35 top-tens.
