Elm Mott, TX.,(Sept. 7Th, 2017) What do you get when two of Texas' racecar builders put an idea together? Only one of the biggest paying Limited Modified shows in the state of Texas, paying $10,000 to win. Chase Allen(CAM Chassis) and Jason Ingalls(Ingalls Racing Products) picked Waco's Heart o' Texas Speedway to hold the prestigious event.

This idea was all about giving racers their money's worth.” said Allen. “We wanted to make it more than just a race, but a show for racers and fans. It's all about everyone having fun, the parties, the free beer and all. We wanted to give the racers a good paying purse. With $1,000 just to start I think they've done just that.”

Over 220 drivers from across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana filled the pits to capacity trying to make the show. Also included in the action were the Factory Stocks running separate shows each night on the ¼ mile. high-banked, dirt oval just north of Waco. Saturdays Factory Stock payout is a $1,000 to win/$100 to start.

While the Waco area was spared the ravages of Hurricane Harvey a couple weeks ago, several south Texas drivers were unable to make their scheduled trip while busy taking care of personal responsibilities at home. Most notably, Steve Whiteaker jr., winner of two Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track cowboy hats, who is always a threat to win when he rolls through the gates.

Still not enough racing for ya? Ok, how about two All-Star races for the top drivers voted in by their piers. Need more? Well, there's also a Limited Modified non-qualifiers race paying $1,000 to win/$200 to start.

Limited drivers would qualify in through 16 heats taking the top 16 in passing to one, of two, A-qualifiers. Two B-qualifiers will fill the remainder of the A-qualifiers. The A-qualifiers lock 4 drivers each into Saturdays finale. Factory Stocks would run a complete show of heats, B-mains and the nights A-main.

The biggest winner of the weekend, so far, has to be Justin Whitehead. In his first trip to HOT Speedway Whitehead has won every feature, except the one he wasn't entered in. The only blemish on his record so far is a second place finish in the Limited Modified heat race.

The nights biggest loser was Greg Frazer. Frazer took a wild ride, barrel-rolling down the back stretch, getting tagged by several cars while in flight and after landing. Frazer was able to get out uninjured, but the car in pretty much totaled unless the Bonham Racing crew can perform an overnight miracle.

In the first Limited Modified qualifier Robert Scrivner, driving a car out of the Abbey Racing stables, got the lead after early leader Josh Short spun off the turn 4 hill. On the ensuing restart Frazer took his hair raising tumble. On a late restart Josh McGaha and Kevin Sustaire made contact battling while holding transfer spots. Both spun off turn 1 collecting Sid Kiphen along the way.

This left Scrivner and Jeffrey Abbey out front as the Abbey Racing duo went on the one-two finish. Former USAC champion, and HOT Speedway favorite, Paul White picked up third while young Taylor Florio was in position to put her car in the final transfer spot.

The second Limited Modified qualifier was all Whitehead, all the time, as he went wire to wire for the win. Behind him, Justin Shaw and Jacob Pirkle ran a steady second and third throughout the 25-lapper. The last transfer spot was hotly contested between Gabe Tucker and multi-time IMCA Southern Sportmod champion, Keith White. Tucker was finally able to secure that spot on a restart with five to go.

Whitehead Wires Factory Stock Field

In the Factory Stock A-main it was another flag to flag win for Whitehead(Hooks). Whitehead got the early jump on Royce Jones, Walter Hamilton, Anthony Simcik and Sean Hill. Simcik and Hamilton got together on lap 2 with Hill getting a piece of the action. Simcik retired for night. Hamilton slid off turn 3 on the restart ending his top run. On the next restart they tried 3 wide off turn 4 causing a big stack up.

Finally after a couple more tries, they went single file with Whitehead edging away as Shane Priddy and Bo Day got past Justin Holt for third and fourth. At halfway it was Whitehead, Jeffrey Abbey, Priddy, Holt and Brandon Taylor after B. Day spun to the infield in turn 4. The only thing to slow Whitehead, in the Thompson Motorsports, Spencer & Son Timber, Bordelon Septic Systems, Hardway Towing, Phone Pros, DRS Racing Shocks, Henrys Motorsports, raceontexas, Best Engines, Outlaw Race Cars, was a slower car on the final lap as he cruised to the win.

Luck goes a long way,” said Whitehead. “I couldn't explain my nerves before the start of the Limited Modified qualifier. Winning that was a weight off my shoulders. We shoot to win every race we enter. We're just very fortunate.”

I can't imagine already being in the show tonight,” added Whitehead about his Limited Modified win. “I still have one more race to go. Hopefully I can park it here too. We want to win them all, every race, every hot lap session, so we're going try the best we can.”

The track is little different from the hot lap session Wednesday night. Starting position had a lot to do with it. Luck, that's most of what gets you here.”

Whitehead Wins Again

It was another virtual walk in the park for Whitehead, although he did fail to lead every lap. Chad Cox got the early lead on the start of the 16-car Factory Stock All-Star Race. Kelly Lockey got along side Cox on lap 1 as they ran door to door at the line. Whithead, using the high line, powered by both going into turn 3 leading at the line on lap 3

Lockey was able to get second from Cox, but Whitehead was already setting sail. Shawn Graham followed to third, stopped on track a couple laps later erasing Whithead's lead. Once back green Whitehead eased away from the pack and at halfway had a good margin over Cox, Lockey, Sean Hill and Brandon Hood. Whitehead continued to march away the last half to grab the victory
