Please keep Lee Machen and the Machen family in your thoughts and prayers. Mac's wife Judy suffered a massive stroke Tuesday and passed earlier this evening.

Julia Marie Lyon Machen – known since the beginning as Judy and later simply as Momma and Grandma Judy – passed away last Sunday at the age of 73. Judy was born in Bastrop, Texas, to the late Raymond Lawrence and Eldora Higgins Lyon. She graduated from Smithville High School in 1961. She married Lee Wilson Machen in 1962. They lived in Meridian, Mississippi, and Austin, Texas, before coming back to reside where they met in Smithville, Texas.

Judy and Lee owned Special Automotive for 42 years before retiring in 2008. Judy was an active member of First Baptist Church of Smithville. Judy’s achievements in life were numerous but she will be remembered as a woman who loved serving her church, her community, and her family.

Judy is survived by her three children: David Allen Machen of Smithville, Texas; Dwayne Ray Machen of Pflugerville, Texas; and LeeAnna Machen Spell of Keller, Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
