IMCA Texas Shootout @ Heart o' Texas Speedway, 5/28/17

Elm Mott, TX.,(May 28th, 2017) Capping off a big Memorial weekend double-header, Heart O' Texas Speedway planned to cap off the week with the IMCA Texas Shootout Sunday night. In Friday nights action during Military Appreciation Night Justin Radcliff(IMCA Modified), TJ Green(IMCA Southern Sport Mods), Wade White (IMCA Stock Cars), Ryan Hopkins(Factory Stocks) and Stacey Robinette(IMCA Hobby Stocks) took home wins.

 

With a draw/redraw format Sunday, and few other tracks running, several drivers took the opportunity to come race in the IMCA classes which featured a $3,000 to win/$100 to start IMCA Hobby Stock Shootout feature and $1,000 to win IMCA Modified Fast Shafts All Star Race qualifier. Sport Mods, I-Stocks and Factory Stock had additional money up for grabs as well.

Headlining the night were the Texas Sprint Series Racesaver 305 class running for National points on the ¼ mile, high-banked, dirt oval just outside of Waco. This would be the debut for the series at HOT Speedway with $,1000 to win/$200 to start on the line.

Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans.

 

Rain held off long enough to get all but one IMCA Modified heat race in. The track tried to wait, but continued rain forced officials to call it a night. At this time it's yet to be determined how the features will be made up, but rain checks will be honored.

In the IMCA Hobby Stocks the Hobby Stock Shootout sponsorship money was split among the 16 drivers that signed in giving each one approximately a $400 payday. The contingency awards were given away by a number draw based on starting positions.
