5/28 ASCS at LoneStar Cancelled due to inclement weather. - Up Next: Big Purse & Big Fun Set for LoneStar 8th Anniversary Spectacular – Sat. June 10

Kilgore TX (5/28/17) -. Several years ago, Lisa and Sam Hafertepe purchased the defunct and dilapidated property that was once LoneStar Speedway (LSS). Through much toil, expense and elbow grease, the track was reopened. On Saturday, June 10th LoneStar is going to celebrate 8 years since reopening the 1/3 mile high-banked oval with the “LoneStar 10th Anniversary Spectacular” featuring ramped up purses for all LoneStar divisions - but regular ticket and pit pricing for all.

The June 10th event is a Championship Points night for all LoneStar divisions and will pay $1,100 to win Modifieds, $600 to win Limited Modifieds, $400 to win Factory Stocks, and $250 to win FWD 4-Cylinders. An excellent purse breakdown for all divisions is posted below. Non-Qualifier money is $50 for the Modifieds, $30 for Limited Modifieds and $20 for Factory Stocks. There is no entry fee or draw fee in any division. All pit passes, all ages, are $30. Mufflers are not required for any division. Transponders are required for Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Limited Modifieds. Click www.LoneStarSpeedway.com for details.

Adult tickets will be $12 (ages 12-64), while Senior/Military are $10, Kids (ages 6-11) are $5, and youngsters ages 5 and under are free with Adult admission.

Again, race fans can enjoy this exciting night of racing with no added ticket pricing - just $12 for ages 12-64! There will be added prize drawings as well.

A lot has transitioned in the past 8 years at LoneStar Speedway, including:

The track was reconfigured to a much more racer- and fan-friendly 1/3 mile configuration. This change has led to a dramatic increase in car count and fan count.

The increases in fan and racer base have allowed purse structures for the LoneStar Speedway points divisions to more than double, plus it has enabled us to pay non-qualifier money to all competitors at all events

Transition to a ‘specials only’ racing calendar; so drivers, fans, crews and workers can spend time with their families on non-race weekends, visit other tracks; etc.

Implemented a point’s fund that has averaged $10,000 a season for the past 4 years...even with running a limited schedule. And drivers do not have to pay a license fee.

Literally dozens rounds of new clay have been brought in each year and incorporated into the existing, including widening the overall racing surface to 70' wide, which has allowed for even more sweeping corners and side-by-side racing

New roof put on concession stand

Pit area expanded into northeast parking area

New fence and retaining wall installed in corners 1-2

New water truck and tractor purchased

Restrooms renovated, stands repainted and pit parking resurfacing underway

There are continued improvements and renovations slated for the future. Similar to when you buy a house, you have a punch list and work on items as you go, as you can; so fans and racers can expect even more in the years to come.

Fans can expect a great field of drivers from throughout the region competing in this event!

This is our first ‘summer hours’ event of the season with racing beginning at 8pm. We have found that the summer hours program has worked really well in the past, as it helps keep the track in optimum condition on hot summer days.

A complete event flyer for June 10th has been posted under the ‘resources’ section of the track website.
